People on this forum care way more about this game's lore than the average WoW player, so one of the things fake leaks here mess up is that they focus way too much on the story of the expansion and put near zero effort on the actual gameplay features, usually just adding one or two regurgitated community talking points.

How many leaks have we had here that go "new support specs for Shaman and maybe DH or Rogue idk" followed by 8+ bullet points on the expansion's plot points, setting, antagonists, history of the new races, etc?

So for me my mindset is that the game should always be developed for the people actively playing the game. Listening to feedback or ideas from people that haven't played in years is not how you keep players happy. It was a problem that Blizzard had for a long, long time. They kept trying to chase that sub high that can not be replicated anymore and the game suffered for it.

I definitely don't think that people that dislike how the game is now don't legitimately love some form of it but for those people classic exists and they're having a blast with it. Or they just leave it in the memory bin and bust it out every now and again for a nostalgia fix. The people that haven't played it in years and still stay just as engaged with the news and info and shit on any possible shred of info with no context and no way of how X thing will actually feel to play are the people I'm talking about not mattering.

It's one thing to look at something like DF or BFA or SL or Legion or whatever and say "I didn't enjoy my time with it" or "It's not for me anymore" and move on and another thing entirely to try and claim that no one could possibly like it for what it is or to devalue the people that do enjoy it by making up whatever strawman argument someone needs to help with their inability to accept that times change. Or something like that I'm not actually sure I'm explaining it that well.

I would, however, add that creating and maintaining a game to a more or less consistent playerbase increases the risk of developer complacency and stagnation. After all, if the current playerbase accepts what the devs have to give, then there wouldn't be much of a reason to dramatically innovate, especially if the higher ups acknowledge that the game is making good money without the increased cost from more development.

I liked the story about when they were playtesting Gnomeregan on an early build and death was more permanent. Metzen died and just went to sit in the hallway for a while because it was so draining. I forget if Jon Staats or David Fried told that story.

Expansion Leak / WoW SoA / World of Warcraft - Storms of Avaloren

• Continent: Avaloren: Four zones – Khaz Algar, Agg’orand, The Everward, and Greyveil Glade (Stormy
snow-covered mountain region, rocky desert plains, a lush living jungle covering titan ruins with
unique moth-looking green dragons, and misty forest think of a more open space Grizzly Hills)
• The Algaren capital city is in Khaz Algar, think half above ground, half underground, more rocky and
less precisely carved looking Ironforge.
• Eight dungeons at launch (Four of which are 11.0 Season 1 Mythic+ dungeons).
• One raid at launch.
• One new battleground at launch.
• Dynamic flying carried through into Avaloren.
• No static flying at launch.
• New dynamic flying glyphs, one I’ve seen previewed is a really fast lightning boost.
• Level cap raised to 80.

• The first portion of SoA will focus more on Odyn than Iridikron and the void.

Reposting to clarify: I forgot to put a bit about the Agg'ora, the Agg'ora are not the same as the Algaren. They are both stone races but the Agg'ora are much bigger than Orcs, I think a bit bigger than even Ogres? They are dusty colored and look more like a mix of Ogres, Kul'tiran, and Vrykrul.

Why the hell would dracs not be able to be paladins?? Just for that it's bs

Haven't heard that one before! Where can one go to find the "Tales from the Office"? I'd kill to just sit around and listen to them tell stories of office shit in early WoW
