does really matter which "leak" is real? they're all underwhelming as fuck. not something you'd expect for the 20th anniversary of the game nor for an expansion that is supposed to breathe new life into retail. meh, classic might truly be the way
I think this expansion leak is plausible. It all lines up, Avaloren sounds exactly boring enough to be what I expected from Blizzard when creating a completely new, no previous lore entries continent.
Honestly, I expected as much. They have a tight rope to cross not damaging old lore, but they must, MUST, create new lore. This isn't bad for their first entry as a completely made-up-on-the-spotland.
Consider the corner the community has been forcing Blizzard into as they gain feedback over the years.
- More grounded, less otherworldly stories - lessen learned from Shadowlands
- No more faction war (feedback starting with Stormheim and culminating with mass dislike of BfA)
- Less Orcs & Humans (feedback starting with WoD, coincidentally look at the following expacs. BfA was heavy on Gnomes, Kul'Tirans, Night Elves & Dwarves)
- More character choice (feedback starting since.. forever? But they loosened the belt after BfA with overhauling customization and offering more class choice.
- Less retcons/continuity errors/powercreeping (After Shadowlands especially. I do not think we will ever see a random big bad like The Jailer again, I doubt even Blizzard wants to remember he exists)
- No more AP/Mission Tables
So we see Dragonflight formed with all this feedback in mind. How well do you think it succeeded?

Dont forget the Legion leaker. He posted those cryptic little sentences like "Why is Thrall Green?" "Ah, you made it just in time!" "You are not prepared!"

That was all there is to it this year. There was nothing really to bite our teeth it. Especially with AI idk man, worst year ever for me. I didn't care anymore.
Got to say, at first I thought GOD you are annoying, but you were actually bringing the whole thing to life with your excitement and your theories, hats off you to. It would have been even better if we had more to do. Anyway thanks.
Looking at the old thread, can't recall who precisely I was thinking of, but the images of the Dracthyr at least came from a non-Scaleface source. It appears the image leaks of Dracthyr started with a guy called Axaron popping in and posting three images along with "fuck bobby kotick", which Scaleface replied to with, "and this is true pics about what I talked about.", so it appears Axaron was the first to provide pictures
Unsure if there were separate leaks for actual expansion info though that weren't just riffing on Scaleface info

Even KNOWING the answer I still struggle with the Drek'thar one.
He posted an image of Drek'thar covered in the letters E A C Y repeated over and over all scrambled. And yeah, I understand that if you replace the "ek" with "ac" and the "a" with "y" you get "Dracthyr" from "Drek'thar", but how was that supposed to be pieced together from repeating those letters in random sequence?
Next day, playable Earthen and Khaz Algar in Alvaloren:
https://www.mmo-champion.com/threads...nsion-Set-Leak
But there were several (3) completely incompatible, contradictory mentions of Khaz Algar. Not surprising since we've been speculating about those books for a long time. Two of them specifically mention the Earthen from Khaz Algar. One of those is the self-admited fake Eclipse. One (lol) goes on to talk about "stormriding" but only in a second post months later, 10 days after the achievements and stormrider were found.
That puzzle was so convoluted that I was sure there was no way the dude was legit. I was certain that the name the people who indulged his game came up with was nonsense and he told them they were right to keep the trolling going. Couldn't believe it when he turned out to be telling the truth.

SoA sounds just disappointing enough for me to believe it's true. If it is props to Agg'ora being the earliest leaked model I can remember.
Would anyone be shocked if Odyn sees the dragons as failures and decided to try and kill Iridikron himself?
