And that's why I think they should still simmer on that idea and not just introduce it for the purpose on next expac. Because I don't have a lot of faith that Blizz has developed something pass the purpose of an expansion from a worldbuilding perspective that they only name dropped a year ago

As I recall, all continents so far have been known (in some form) since waaay back. I'm pretty sure even Pandaria was mentioned. The biggest changes would be that the Broken Isles was enlarged by quite a bit, and the Shadowlands developed from a sort of spirital plane on Azeroth to a more physical location. Dragon Isles was a map all the way back in the RTS, and featured in some rough early concept art for WoW (the one with the mollusk).
Avaloren is the first time we're headed into new territory, even if there's been suggestions that something might lie beyond the waves.
-storms of awakening
-the story is about azeroth "waking up", causes extreme weather which reshapes parts of azeroth
- new "mega zones" redesigned maps looks like exisiting zones melted togethert with small changes
- iridikron reshapes mountain ranges with his newly aquired power, trying to break the world
- demo is played in a new zone that surfaced west from kalimdor (on the map like vashjir)

1. a place where people who stopped playing World of Warcraft 10 years ago gather to tell those who still enjoy the game, how bad it is right now.
Man, imagine if Avaloren is just primordial Azeroth or something. Travel back in time to before Ancient Kalimdor was ordered out of the best bits of Avaloren.
It makes no sense what so ever, but it's a fun thought. The "storm" could be something in the air, like a dimensional portal (seen the movie "Langoliers"?) that takes you back in time to the primordial Azeroth.
Avaloren was Elune's domain, wild and untamed. Her making sure World Trees grow is a way to try and connect back to that domain, to seed its wilderness back to modern Azeroth.
Anyway, I'm just spitballing (so no one gets upset).
Plus in this five-line "leak" he can't stay consistent about what is reshaping the world.

What we need now is a new Pandaria. Whatever they say, DF is more Cata than MoP.
Off focus story that is all over the place? Check.
Dragons and elementals? Check.
Druids of the Flame attacking the World Tree? You better fucking believe it.
