These days it's incredibly easy to make a fake logo that just a few years ago could pass as a believable leak, especially if you fix the lettering. I made these in two minutes, and of course they are fake, though I won't lie, I would like an expansion with this sort of aesthetics:

I mean obviously. The "OF" in world is fucked up. Its an AI image and is not even in the correct artstyle.

The deserts are very clearly magically manufactured, there’s nothing to indicate that Thaldraszuz is an arid zone. It’s literally a misty mountainous region. The desert there isn’t natural, it’s created by the Bronze flight or the Titans because it’s indicative of time magic.

There are plenty of volcanic regions in northern climate so I’m unsure what point you’re trying to make there. Waking Shores is hardly a jungle, it isn’t tropical in the slightest. There’s an abundance of life there because of the Red Dragonflight. There’s plenty of greenery, but it isn’t tropical. The zones are pretty cohesive as a northern region, with the extreme areas that don’t fit in such as the sand dunes being artificially created.

A jungle, desert, frozen wilderness and enchanted forest are just glaringly on opposite ends of the spectrum from each other. It’s peak theme park zone layout. For all the faults with the Dragon Isles, they are pretty cohesive when compared to other expansion landmasses.

The only way Avaloren would make sense utilising those four zones on one landmass would be to explain that the Titans created four distinct biomes to study the inhabitants of each zone. And even then that doesn’t make sense because what little we do know of Avaloren is that it’s anti-Titan.

Theme park zones have been a huge criticism of the game from the fan base. There’s a reason why the most beloved and well received zones are Northrend, Kul Tiras, Zandalar and to a lesser extent, Pandaria - it’s because they get all have a cohesive theme throughout.

Well, assume there's a heavy sigh on the fact that I very brazenly did not mention the person this was actually aimed at in the post itself or at the very least Quote them, but it's cool to see how many different takes of what this Post was, people can come up with. Outside of that, not really in the early morning mood of TL;DRing the whole discussion, if you saw this post, you saw the rest of the discussion around that, which would also mean you'd see the post that better contextualizes the original intention. The text though, oh 100% that was written as baity as possible, but people have the option not to hook themselves and I'm more than willing to point it out blatantly. Sometimes I get to have just an itsy bitsy shred of fun, we can't leave it all to the Hungering Void that is Teriz.

That being said, I think I get the idea behind why you're asking for that comparison and I'll gladly oblige. So anyway, I just took MoP and thought "might as well just do the whole thing from there and onward. It's not everything, but it's most of modern.

    So here you go.

The Avaloren one seems to follow the DF Font, but returns to actually coloring it slightly, at least for Avaloren itself, whilst also adding that glare/glow effect the font used to have on MoP and Legion (and quite possibly some of the few earlier ones). As far as Locations go, I mean. It still doesn't say much, when you consider that DF just about broke a 2 expansion trend where we were shown multiple shots while the caption was up. And often the things shown, honestly? Aren't always very significant. Like the Temple from Shen-zin Su, or just the random ass rock formation from Frostfire, Nar'thalas Academy on it's own wouldn't necessarily be insane by any means, if Dalaran wasn't on there. The second Zandalar shot is just showcasing the race, the Maldraxxus shot and Ardenweald shot are both really weak for what those Zones had to offer, while Bastion is alright and Revendreth just steals the show. Dragonflight manages to capture quite a bit with it's shot.

There isn't an established trend to follow here with anything, other than, yeah.. more often than not it's some type of Landmark, but it doesn't actually have to be significant in the long run, at all. So off the previous reveal trailers, you can get a few things. The first picture with the Avaloren caption is set at the start of it's camera pan for the shot in question. It's maybe a second into the camera pan for the shot, which is only halfway through the pan on average. The speed varies, more often than not, it's the central portion of the shot that's important (duh), which would actually draw attention away from the pine forest that most of the screenshot showcases as the closest terrain on the screenshot, but rather it would go on to either swiftly move towards the "Misty" Mountains in the back or transition into a close-up shot of the Mountains with the caption still on screen.

Basically, to TL;DR it again, mostly for everyone else, it's still so up in the air because of the lack of a definitive trend, the shot could just be a weaker shot in the grand scheme of things, it could just be Shot #1 of a string of, well really up to 4, based on precedent, but most likely just 2. And people are getting distracted by the Pines and the PoV height, I might add. The road goes down into the mountain rangem which from the proper perspective would actually be quite massive and winding through a lot of rough terrain from the looks of it.

I think what makes it so contentious is that it's both high quality, and in a set of 4.
High quality means it's either a press kit, or taken in an environment where getting good quality is easy.
Four pictures means you have a large amount of variance within whatever source this came from.

If it's a press kit then it raises questions of why official pictures are so boring. And if it's a picture or screenshot someone took of the trailer then the question becomes why the picture was of the most boring parts.

Boring is entirely subjective, so that point I simply won't or can't really argue, have no desire to. I find a lot of words about them, some bad but nothing says 'boring' to me specifically. Also, this has been said before by others and it doesn't become less true any time it is repeated. Look at any of those reveal trailers (I just did, evidently) and you'll find that you'll have a very, very healthy mix of 'boring' and 'significant' shots in use. Not everything needs to be a landmark and not everything has ever been a landmark in these. There are absolutely boring ass shots in these trailers, all the time. Both subjectively and just in a general sense of "There just isn't a whole lot going on here".

They’re boring in the sense of this could be anywhere on Azeroth and does not need to be a new expansion at all. That alone says enough about the quality of those screenshots.

Boring in the sense that the press kits or trailers will usually want to showoff the big exciting stuff. The pyramids in Zuldazar. The Shrine of the Storm in Stormsong Valley. Castle Nathria. The various new bits of decor in Ardenweald. Etc.

These sets of four images don't have anything that leaps at you as iconic landmarks or undeniably new types of architecture. It's just basic landscape, which is a weird thing for whatever source this came from to focus on.

There being four pictures is where the question of variance comes in. Because while you definitely have some boring shots of ambience to break up the excitement, you would have to be very picky about what to show from a trailer to only get those. Even more so if you have a random collection.

If the images are random from the press kit or trailer then the person who got hold of them is monumentally unlucky bordering on the absurd. And if it's curated pictures then Blizzard is either intentionally witholding anything interesting, or actually just making an expansion without any iconic landmarks of any kind.

He'd be a fool not to, it'd really skyrocket his career as an influencer since he'll have exclusive insider information. If it does well enough he can finally quit his desk job at Blizzard and become a full-time WoW tiktoker.

I imagine someone so involved in an actual game dev company would be able to spot AI fakes, so crossed fingers.

And you still say that as if that hasn't been the case before and is an issue entirely unique to this specific string of images.
