Has there ever been a leak that got future patch content/plans for future content correct?
For example, did you know Overwatch has a "New Hero deep dive" thingie scheduled at BlizzCon? Neither did I! It's hidden in some dang blog post, halfway through the page:
Edit: it seems like this is the same event as the "Deep Dive" listed originally, so I walk it back a bit. But still, confusing wording and mixed messages.NEW HERO DEEP DIVE
November 3 – 2:30 PM PT – BlizzCon Arena
Join Overwatch 2 developers as they explore the art, backstory, and abilities of our newest hero, including the premiere of their origin story cinematic.
Oh, thanks. So nothing noteworthy in last 10 or so hours.
where leaks
My lawyer has advised me to not comment on this.
Jokes aside though, I have no idea what they meant and I'm very confused.
I think they're trying to make it seem like I'm a Blizzard employee that came up with the idea of collecting every leak in a spreadsheet and giving each leak a credibility score so I could hide the real leak by assigning it a score of 0 so no one looks at it...
As if anyone could even think of something so absurd!
People on this forum care way more about this game's lore than the average WoW player, so one of the things fake leaks here mess up is that they focus way too much on the story of the expansion and put near zero effort on the actual gameplay features, usually just adding one or two regurgitated community talking points.
How many leaks have we had here that go "new support specs for Shaman and maybe DH or Rogue idk" followed by 8+ bullet points on the expansion's plot points, setting, antagonists, history of the new races, etc?
Fair enough.
I would, however, add that creating and maintaining a game to a more or less consistent playerbase increases the risk of developer complacency and stagnation. After all, if the current playerbase accepts what the devs have to give, then there wouldn't be much of a reason to dramatically innovate, especially if the higher ups acknowledge that the game is making good money without the increased cost from more development.
