I honestly think the leak is 100% real, maybe the reason why they reused assets to make Avaloren is because they are updating the old world, and we are actually seeing the updated old world assets in that leak.

I mean, the first screenshot looks like Gilneas or Silverpine Forest.
The second one looks more like Storm Peaks, but the assets could be from Dun Morogh or Winterspring, it even has a more HD version of the gryphon building from Hinterlands and a dwarf statue that could fit well in the dwarven zones.
The third one looks totally like Durotan, Barrens, and Thousand Needles.
The last one is basically Un'Goro.

I don't want to have hope about a world revamp because I've been waiting for one since 3 or 4 expansions ago and it never happens...but it's true that they are reusing too many assets when normally Blizzard doesn't reuse stuff for new expansions, maybe decorations like the harpy ones, but not trees, rocks and stuff like that, this is just one possible explanation. Of course, this could be the other way around, maybe they are making Avaloren look close to the old world zones to have assets ready for a future old world update, who knows, we'll see.

Coming from someone with a portfolio such as your own, that's pretty decent praises. You're one of the few people I reckon could pull this off if you wanted to as well, so this lends an interesting perspective to their validity.

Agreed. My issue isn't with the quality of the zone art. Its that they look similar to Dragon Isles. As zones, the 4 pics look fine.

Like you, I’ll play regardless. I enjoy mythic+, I play seasonally and the launch month(s) is always worth the price of admission for playing with my mates and messing around. But if Avaloren is what those images are, I’m going to feel ever so slightly deflated because of what I had personally hoped for it to be.

I know I'm about 50 pages behind at the moment, however I read this and wished there was some way we could upvote posts on here. I agree with what you said 100%.

Look, shitposting isn't an exact science and I can't tell you why it works in this manner, only that it does. I don't make the rules, I just invent them. All I know is that we can sit around arguing about it until we're both blue in the face, but right now, that 2500 threshold ought to be our top priority for the sake of everything this thread stands for.

Nah. I don't believe that, either. I remember the visible frustration of Jeff Kaplan at BlizzCon when he referenced the Overwatch 2 leak. The devs and marketing team put a lot of effort into announcing their new projects on their own terms. Leaks throw a wrench in those plans. I guarantee, they do not see it as a good thing. If they want a little tease to build up hype, they would just do it directly. No reason to rely on something so random. I've seen the reactions of devs on social media when these leaks happen, and they are anything but happy or excited. That frustration I have seen, that is something that exists. Proof of the contrary does not exist, at all.

Im so confused what standard you have set here? You sound like a petulant kid whining that the blue icing on his birthday cake is sky blue instead of navy. Like what do you see in those images that tells you the game is mid? Its 4 still images. You know nothing (If it is real) besides what is visible in those 4 images.

The different here is that I don't think you have an attainable standard. Im not saying to expect nothing, but if you just assume shit you are gonna be let down.

You know, maybe it's just time we accept wow IS and HAS been on maintenance mode and we were all too blind to see it.

I know doomer point of view but it's really not wrong.

Weak narrative for 3+ expansions, generic set pieces that very well could be made by AI tools the developers use to flush out areas after creating a few very small set pieces(every DF zone has 1-2 big pieces then giant empty easily AI generated landscapes to fill the void.), the weakest and easily the cheapest produced intro cutscene in wows history was dragonflights, etc. The list really does go on.

Are we just all chasing copium at this point as blizz tosses low hanging fruit to keep the fans half assed engaged as they work on a much bigger and much better project we just aren't expecting?

Legion introduced Mythic+ and that alone is bigger than anything Dragonflight brought into the game, especially with how important Mythic+ is to this day.
