When it comes to the difference in shadows…
Isn’t that just a thing w/ the ray traced shadows? Maybe they turned them on for the trailer/showcase.

You would think, that if these leaks were real, that it would've been run on ultra.

1. Nope, I tried with all available shadow settings and it looks roughly the same, they just change the quality of the shadow edge (except low which is just a blob under the character)
2. Why would they use worse shadows for a showcase?

My fake/real ratio is now 90/10. Still not saying they are completely fake (damnit, you Dracthyr) but there's too much iffy stuff in them.

I must really not be representative of their target demographic then! I don't think I know anyone particularly into E-sports, but clearly those communities exist and are being catered to, but it's sobering to realize how divorced your echo chamber can be from the greater community

E-sports have increasingly taken more and more space at Blizzcon

I don't think 'more e-sports' are related at all, the e-sports stuff has always had their own stages/place in previous BlizzCons, there's technically less e-sports happening this time around as well, this change specifically is due to them switching to only 1 stage for all panels and dropping the smaller stages.

2019 e.g. had SC2 World Championship, WoW Arena Championship/MDI, Hearthstone tournament, HotS tournament and the Overwatch World Cup AND the main stage/panel stages.

2023 so far seems to be toned down a lot, only the arena stage for panels, WoW only has the guild clash event, Hearthstone/HotS/SC2 have nothing with only Overwatch still having the regular World Cup (albeit in its own hall).

They're also occupying less space of the convention center compared to previous years, 2019 had Hall E, Level 2 as well and they moved registration from outside to inside this year, so there's just far less space for the event as well.

I don't know why they did this and it's probably part of their "reimagining BlizzCon" thing, but I'm not a fan.

Yeah. As much as I dislike the 4 screenshots, maybe compairing cinematic with cinematic is more logical than cinematic with ingame shot.

It's much darker than the dwarf shadow, and it looks like an actual shadow with a slightly different shape to account for a different angle of the light source compared to the camera rather than being the exact same shape as the character, just stretched out. Look at the area where the cloak meets the body and the outstretched arm, and then compare that to the dwarf's crotch/ice claws

Especially given that they are asking far more so people can attend. People who paid to go to Blizzcon did not really know how condensed the panels were going to be compared to previous cons.

Well I certainly hope the tickets are at least cheaper then because you seem to be getting quite a lot less out of it

They are much more expensive. General admission went from $230 to 300, the Portal Pass went from $550 to 800

Heck even the opening ceremony will be in a much smaller space. They knew they would not be able to sell out.

I mean, I could understand it if Blizzcon was still this huge thing it used to be and they up'd the prices for inflation (and the increased demand) but it just seems sort of wrong to raise the price of the portal pass by nearly 50% at the same time you drastically scale down the event

trying to find the wrong angle in the shadow is similar to OmegaCopium. Avaloren is real and all you can do is laugh at this expansion to make Blizzard feel sad.

We've been over the BlizzCon Collection extensively already, it's basically only 'worth' the price if you play 2 or more games regularly based on included battle passes and such, but yeah, also quite pricey.
