See I used to believe that Blizzard cannot do an expansion reveal that fails to hype me. It happened with MoP and they proved me wrong after all. But then both SL and DF were just unsuccesful reveals imo. SL had no meat and DF had no hook.

There was a fairly valid Diablo leak that briefly mentions a revamp and SoA. The Diablo parts are very detailed but the warcraft part is one line and very likely false. Not sure where it originated since I've only seen what was posted in the Diablo forum here.

a leaker from the diablo leak said it was SoA is the only reason I know of, but I think its tongue and cheek

    all good ^_^

i think this is a little different. these metadata tags exist because it seems the program used to create the JPEG was Photoshop. AFAIK these tags are unable to be manipulated after they are created (non-writable). think of it sort of like a watermark

it certainly is not definitive evidence that the images are fake. but if they are real, it does strike me as odd that they would open Photoshop at all

Agreed. They spent feature design time redesigning the game in Dragonflight so we should have at least one big thing again. Something like Warfronts, islands, Torghast, garrions etc.

I have had fun with all of those features btw. They could gave been better but all had redeeming qualities.

Anyone remember the datamined 1% racials that seemed to be rotational or something in 10.2? Do we know what they are about? perhaps its a hint of a racial revamp coming with a world revamp?

Their problem imo was that all of them were designed to be one off, bound to expansion themes and many of them were just poorly iterated upon.

    That's all major and impressive.
Yes it was a massive amount of work and long time players appreciated it but it wasn't a very good tactic yo bring back lapsed players, or yo recruit new ones. You need something big and flashy. It could be garrions/Torghast, islands etc.

Think about how much worse the sales would have been too if DF had no nee class?

Whatever the theme of the expansion it should have at the bare minimum the same amount of content as BFA not DF or SL. We should expect that level of work put into the game which massive and i would go as far to say its amount of content was equal to Legion if not more and anything less should be mocked and settling for less should not be an option at all. They just can not muck up the gearing like BFA did and i would venture to say if they did not launch with azerite armor and instead tier sets and had the neck been the primary power progression system it would be heralded as the 2nd best expansion.

I'm not really seeing why people are seemingly so mad about the leaked screenshots. Generic high fantasy zones is what people have asked for for years

And that was all well and good but those are base systems. They do not give you new ways to play the game, they just enhance the existing ways you play the game.

Thats a large issue in that treating each expansion like its own game instead of a larger over arching connected game.

I think they will make changes to the core gameplay to make it more in line with the spirit ot classic.

No LFR but they will add a modern group finder and add normal modes in for pugs.

Keep the heroic dungeons hard until Firelands and then neef them with the addition of titan rune versions.

    Etc..

I mean the story would keep it from being remembered as a great expac. But yeah if the game had launched with Essences instead of Azerite, it would probably have been remembered quite more fondly. Great raids, solid dungeons (though the seasonal mechanics were crap).

SL was pretty hype at launch for the general audience. It even broke sales records as the fastest selling pc game of all time. Immediately broken by Cyberpunk but still.

Btw do I remember correct that we had been told there would be additions to evergreen content in DF? Yet we have not had Brawler's guild (and adding it late would be a bad idea since casual players will never be able to outgear it) or even a new TW raid. Maybe they meant all the salvaged mogs from removed content (which imo all are very fun to unlock but then extremely grindy to actually collect)?

I think Shadowlands would have been much better received had it not been overtuned to hell and back. Again, months and months of the game being designed around tanks being kiters instead of tanks was just terrible .

They got it in Dragonflight is I think the key issue.

Feels like DF 2.0, but that feels like the exact kind of thing Blizzard would do, which is why I'm not that shocked if that's the case. The expansion practically never lives up to what people desire in this thread.

World of Warcraft: Echoes of Eternity

-Level 80 with post-max progression system: Path of Heroes
--- new talents 71-80. After 80, PoH serves as new progression system going forward. unlocks class skins and done through outdoor content, world quests, instances, and pvp.
-new specs, 4 at launch and more over expansion (dh, warrior, shaman, and monk)
---additional specs for rogue and mage teased
-world revamp, EK at start of expansion and Kalimdor, Northrend, and Pandaria over course of expansion (DF is starting experience and timeline goes forward from there)
---other continents and zones will be focused on in later expansions or patches
-new underground zones added to each continent that is updated. First zone is Uldaz added to EK under the region of Khaz Modan
-expansion intended to last for multiple years with quicker patch cadence. expansion mile stones will be larger and more spread out.
-no new race or class. customization screen fully overhauled with allied races rolled into existing equivalents. body types, face types, additional hair styles, tattoos, and other options allow for new subrace combinations like forest troll, taunka, and krokul. updated starter zones account for new options with focus on race lore across revamped zones.
-void and order battle for azeroth's soul. mortal races caught in between. tyr sides with mortals as redemption and rallies forces of azeroth for final battle.
