In regards to features, I'm really hoping for cross armor type mogging. Between mogging naked and all these crazy cosmetic armor pieces and sets, it make no sense to not be able to do it.
Hell I can look like a straight up mage with the necrolord korthia gear and the low res purple witch hat cosmetic as a paladin
It could be anything, they could be riding Archaeopteryx, but my counterpoint for it being a dragon: we just had an expansion where we were limited almost the entire time to use dragon mounts exclusively and everything was about dragons. Nothing wrong with dragons but you can have too much of a good thing too. And this isn't just a mount we use - this would presumably be a big part of the Algarian identity. It would be really pushing the dragon fatigue. Of course it could be that the Algarians actually only play a minor role at which point them riding dragons would maybe be less of an issue with other new stuff breaking the monotony - I still think we have plenty of dragons and even Blizzard wants to give us something fresh. They're starting in 10.2 but in a very limited scope. I just expect them to expand on that rather than return to doing more dragons.

An interesting point, but i think we have a lot of details about the concept of Avaloren. I may be wrong since I haven't followed every piece of lore in DF, but...
- Avaloren is on the other side of Azeroth where storms, magic, and monster prevent most from sailing
- Odyn labeled a group known as "heretics" fled there to be away from the titans.
- Those heretics had powerful enough defenses to dissuade Odyn, a titan keeper, from visiting.
- Nightsquall sailed there with his crew and returned with treasures "we've never seen before"
- Night Squall is forming a massive, unified pirate crew to sail there and claim it all.
Now, if you also look into those ideas you can also surmise
- This continent must not have been part of the Azeroth "Pangea" that existed during the sundering (which may also mean they've never encountered demons?)
- That may also mean not being affected in any way by the Well of Eternity or the powers that created elven kind to begin with.
- That these heretics have either incredibly powerful technology or found something to make themselves powerful since they dissuaded Odyn from pursuing them due to their overwhelming defensives.
- That there may be a ton of pirates to fight there?
I'd say those things could make for an expansion setting... Mysteries, power, pirates, secrets, cultures. Especially when you compare it to what we know about places like Tel'abim, or what we previously knew of the Dragon Isles prior to their full development into an expansion. It may not be the most ideal setting to some, and there may be other places that are MORE developed than Avaloren, but to say there's not enough to create an expansion on isn't true, I think.
With all the cosmetics from the shop, ingame, and what not I can also see Blizzard remove the armor type restrictions from transmogs in 11.x
I think a good middle ground between preserving some of the visual clarity of armor types and still allowing more expression with cross-armor transmog would be to set a limit on the amount of armor slots that can be transmogged to a different type at one time. Probably three slots max or something like that would open up a lot more room for new outfits without totally destroying what's left of armor types.
