“They do not die; they do not live. They are outside the cycle.”

C'Thun in pre-WotLK comic plotted to have Cho'gall resurrect him and he even transformed him into the monstrosity he was in Cataclysm.

Yogg-Saron in Legion was still heard in Ulduar through his whispers and Brann Bronzebeard in Exploring Northrend (after SL timeline-wise) reported that the whispers of Yogg-Saron are still heard throughout Northrend and Ulduar in places where he once held power (such as Whisper Gulch in Howling Fjord).

N'Zoth in DF spoke to the player from the past and peered into their future, becoming aware of his own fate.

At the end of BfA, after N'Zoth's "defeat", Magni claimed that Azeroth was "freed from the grasp of the Old Gods"; but, the "King of Diamonds has been made a pawn."

We have confirmation that 3/4 of the Old Gods are still active in some form.

The Old Gods are outside the normal cycle. Death does not apply to them; they will always haunt Azeroth.

Honestly, Illidan and Sargeras are perfect characters to return for both Void and Light conflicts. I don't think they need to necessarily make Sargeras a "good guy" per se, but there's definitely grounds for a ton of dimension to his character.

The Titans are increasingly becoming questionable in their moralty to the mortals, now shifts this single Titan who betrayed them and launched a devastating crusade in the name of preventing a void corrupted Dark Titan into a slightly different light. He's still a major major villain, but we've beaten him and our goals unfortunately align. Illidan could also turn into someone who is big team anti-Light due to his experience with Xera.

My general belief and opinion is that the light vs void conflict (along with Shadowlands, the Titans through Dragonflight and possibly Elune at some point soon) is going to be set to show us that none of the cosmic forces have the mortals completely in mind, and we wish to set the stage for our own future. Or something like that. Idk, all headcannon speculation.

I just want to be unprepared again, miss the winged man

Shadows over Azeroth is a pretty insane leak..

Harbinger putting a shell around the planet? Sargeras grabbing the sword and escaping??

I think the issue with a Light v Void expansion setting is that... That's it. That's like, the last expansion they could ever do.

Not literally, they could explore more cosmic stuff, but nothing is ever going to build up to the size of that conflict ever again.

Boy, do I wish that to be the case... I would be pretty interested in the whole idea of Azerite making a return (for STORY only, No AP grinds or systems) as some kind of WoW version of nuclear fuel or even advancing civilizations. Especially with the prospect that Gallywix probably owns the Venture Co after we killed Mogul Razdunk and is using them to try to find and harvest more Azerite. (Even if there isn't a war going on, he can still use the stuff from anything to fuel, miracle tonics, and so much other stuff.)

Though I'm sure there people here who would vehemently hate that idea more than anything. It doesn't necessarily has to be the entire theme of the expansion, but rather the Gallywix/Azerite plot is just start off point to where it can domino effect into something far more bigger and sinister going on like Iridikron and the Void.

I hope thats not real because if the 5th Old God or a Void Lord of Xal'atath have the super basic Cthulu look everyone goes with when depicting him... I'll be disappointed.

But their physical bodies have been destroyed, if anything their "souls" are in some.void realm possibly, which would fall into cosmic territory.

I fully expect all four to return, only a different form.

Remember, the dildo of consequence rarely comes lubed. Be careful what you wish for.

I, for one, don't really want any RE-anything. I want Blizzard to come up with new stuff, new antagonists, new enemies.

Take everything ion says with a huge grain of salt. It could be 99% old god expansion and he would be technically right.
