How is it a failure? It's literally just an update for OW1.

I'd say it is a failure in that it failed to deliver the premise that they sold to us at Blizzcon.

Overwatch managed a far greater reach than the people who actually played it. Many people were following the character roster and the media while not playing the game at all. Blizzard tried to capture that crowd by selling them a proper Pve story (and probably sold quite a few units on that promise) and then failed to deliver.

Microsoft DOES RTS though. They did Age of Empires 4 and have supported it. If you buy the WC and SC IPs and you have RTS talent in your team (Blizzard probably has almost none left by now) why not do sequels for two of the biggest RTS franchises ever.

Absolutely too soon. But there are other things that may happen now. They could announce that they are picking up WC3: Reforge and will deliver on the initial promise (and might even be close to a new launch, that one is a win they have to go for imo since it is the biggest breach of trust with their playerbase other than the scandals imo). They could announce a SC mobile game and just throw a tiny teaser for a new SC game saying it is nowhere near launch like Bethesda did with ES6

Looks like everything in those two leaks matches.

Easy to dismiss as fake though since the first one didn't really understand how Blizzcon schedules go. The big reveals are always all in the keynote, not spread throughout the panels.

Just a meta thought I had. If we think the website and screenie leaks are fake, that would mean no promo material has leaked yet and we are 2 days from blizzcon. No credible logo leak, nor even a credible expansion name leak via domain stuff. That seems unprecedented. Intuitively makes it more likely those screenshot and website leaks were real after all then, since they are the only ones that conceivably could be from actual promo material. The Tyr questline conclusion is going to have to some extremely heavy lifting to carry us from Dragonflight into an Avaloren expac if that ends up happening. Seems very disappointing to again have the build up to an expansion only materialize in the game post announcement. This isn't how you build hype for the future of wow, imo

I'm still 60/40 leaning on fakes. There are some weird things that don't add up for me, but could easily be from the pics being stills of a video, so no idea
Anyway in all honesty Blizzard has a glaring problem of space. The "old guard" up until legion just re-used old places and characters (except for Pandaria) without building meaningfull new stories. Now they must set their stories somewhere, revamping EK/Kalimdor and setting them here is an option, while creating new landmasses is another one. I think Avaloren is going to happen one way or another.

One issue here is if Blizzard would really make two expacks so similar one after the other. But I have no idea, so let's wait and see.

i think you vastly underestimate how many weebs are into WoW. I like Warcraft, but also all the weeb stuff, anime, manga, not so much into music, but i could see other people be into it, and i am 35, so prime WoW veteran.

I think WoW has too many loud edgy boys who can't admit that weeby stuff is cool.

I firmly believe Blizzard are fundamentally wrong to no longer cater to 30-40yo dudes, and this is partly the reason why it looses its playerbases. In my opinion for teenagers their games suck, so in result they fail with both demographics.

Blizzard went from Rock to K-Pop. On the other hand I think they're trying to copy Riot. But then again, you need have a good game first. People would appreciate this more if Overwatch wasn't in the gutter right now.

Valorant is way more popular yes but lets not act like its any better than Overwatch.

By the rest leak description you can shape the gaming portrait of the leaker - he is well into ALL Blizzard stuff. Him not knowing Mauga's name is a red flag.
He 100% knows the name but decided to go with vague description thinking it would add credibility to his made up stuff.
