Hey I just finished War of the Scaleborn. It is ok. Too many battles IMO. Would have been better to spend more time developing the characters. But I guess that the author is limited by Blizzard in a lot of ways. I think that she did a good job.
Anyway I just wanted to share some things that I find interesting:
- IMO the Incarnates in their element are more powerful than the Aspects in their prime.
- IMO Iridikron knew about the Old Gods and probably interacted with them in some way.
- Harrowsden (Iridikron's lair) should be somewhere in Northrend, or maybe to the north of Northrend. I think that we will visit it at some point, and it even has the potential to be another Torghast if they ever put it in the game.
- The book talks about several new zones that could be in Northrend. Maybe these zones were just renamed by mortals or maybe there is something to the north of Northrend or maybe they were destroyed 10.000 years ago.
- Neltharion has a strong presence in the book. He was a cool guy before he went nuts. He did not value mortal lives at all, though.
- It is explained why Dracthyr were so feared by Neltharion and why he put them in stasis.
- Tyr (sadly) has no presence at all in the novel. He is killed at the beginning.
- Vyranoth alliance with us in game makes even less sense after reading the book.
- The Primalists origins are kind of explained, although how they are still active 20.000 years after the war in such numbers is not explained at all.
There is much more, but nothing really major besides the zone that I have talked about. If someone has any doubts I will try to answer them, although I believe that by now anyone interested in the book already knows everything that there is to know.
