After seeing the stuff Richard Knaak came up with, I'd rather his stories went the way of Medan.

Maybe that's it. No expansion. Just a sub and micro transactions. Expansion like content will basically come in major patches.

I still think it would be an expansion so to speak. My hope isn't the expansions will drop. I don't believe we'd get an acceptable level of content without paying for that expansion every two years. Aside from DF the expansions initially regularly sell and make an incredible amount of money from announcement. There's no way we're not getting something to pre-order very very soon.

The theoretical 'World of Warcraft' expansion would still have sub-named expansions after. I mean it more of a rebrand figuratively for the game itself. Don't get me wrong, I think its more than likely we're getting a named expansion. I just don't think that the above mentioned possibility isn't possible.

Nah. I think most of the stuff people don't like about Knaak are Blizzard mandates.

So, what is widely considered his best work in Warcraft is Day of the Dragon. Day of the Dragon is unique in how Warcraft novels were written. Old interviews from Blizzplanet (im not even sure they exist anymore) and Knaak QA's on reddit (Again, can't honestly say they exist anymore) state that it was a unique process for him as well. They essentially gave him a crate of materials, told him to read it, and then make a story out of whatever he wanted.

He's mentioned that novels past that were heavily editorialized and had much more Blizzard interaction.

"always" drunk, and an appreciation for ale are different things. Forgotten Realm dwarves love to drink and get drunk, but they aren't always drunk. Far from it. They party hard, live hard, work hard, and fight hard.

Kind of amazing how many people cant tell apart AI images with a painted look and in-engine screenshots. I'd think its obvious but apparently not.

At this point they have to be trolling, or it's their fake and their trying to keep it going.

I think the low quality of the pictures makes it harder to distinguish. This one for instance looks in-engine to me, even though most people think it's AI.



On the other hand, the three screenshots of page 2422 seem like they're IA based from another game. Only the second one could have been believable if not for the excessive blur.

I'll give Blizzard some credit. Where to go next after DF is hard. Each expansion can kind of come directly from Vanilla WoW, i.e. the chain Vanilla, TBC, WOTK,...DF isn't so major--it's really more like Vanilla, TBC;Vanilla, WoD; Vanilla, DF, etc. What I mean is each expac draws from something already from Vanilla WoW. But there's little left. I mean really little. What is there besides Black Empire, going back into earlier Azeroth, or the void attacks Azeroth? Really what else is there? We've never had a situation that would warrant DF->Avaloren/Khaz. WoW doesn't do so much post-Vanilla tie in that people who skip an expac have sooo much less idea what is going if DF->Ava/Khaz.

What makes this difficult is that we don't know how DF actually "ends" like obviously we kill Fyrakk, but the patch isn't out yet and we won't see any of the encrypted cinematics until launch. And even if Amirdrassil is the final raid, Blizz said that there will be more to this than they're letting on.

It's in the similar vein as when they announced Cata four months before they released 3.3.0 (Fall of the Lich King)

Look even remotely closer at the windows on the top of the structure on the right, or any of the trees closer to the camera.

The fact that those 3 images have the same kind of brush style distortions make it evident it's the same person, or the same model.

I literally do not understand how you can look at this image and not immediately tell it's not in-engine, let alone spend 1 minute looking at it to tell it's AI.

Open it in a new tab and zoom a bit on the rocks and pine tree on the left, it's very much digital paint strokes not in engine.

My "short" wish list ^^

- revamped EK and KD + new underground zone
- dps-support specs added to rogue, demonhunter, paladin, mage and monk
- tank spec for shaman
- timeskip x years
- new quests in all zones
- dynamic zones (level and rewards)
- irridikron returns with void allies, plays out in the enew underground zone
- soft reset of reputations, zones get there own renown track.
- old dungeons revamped all with dynamic levels and rewards.
- old EK and KD, can be visited in classic
- unlocked transmog system, restrictions removed.
- unlocks in classic grants unlocks in retail

In all fairness the expansion not having a name isn't in itself that mad of an idea.

Releasing the game as just World of Warcraft on an expansion releasing on the 20th anniversary is a possibility. However only if it is to be a revamp. If we get Avaloren or something else, there's no reason really to not give it a themed name. But a revamp? You want old players back? World of Warcraft. Players who've never tried it? World of Warcraft. You're not selling an expansion, or the 10th expansion. You're selling the game itself with naming it that. A very bold move. If we are to be moving in a new direction of development, or having a largely revamped world. World of Warcraft can make total sense IMO.

My only issues with it, is how they then sell it. What do they sell this 'Expansion' as? Pre-ordering World of Warcraft whilst playing, World of Warcraft is weird. If you get my meaning.

There was one with: level cap to 80 and nothing else. I think that must be it!
