Every time there has been an Underground content in WoW, the Old Gods were the main antagonists.

There has never been Underground content in WoW that didn't feature the Old Gods as main antagonists.

The Old Gods' tentacles run deep underground as they seek their ultimate prize: the World Soul in the planet's core.

The Old Gods have ALWAYS been the antagonists of Underground content. Why the Old Gods wouldn't be the antagonist of an Underground expansion?

Like Azjol Nerub, the underground dungeon with one of the Lich King’s just trusted generals as the main antagonist leading his scourge forces?

i would say of recent. most popular is the scourge in general. void is the only one we haven't defeated entirely. we've defeated the scourge. defeated the legion. void is the last of the 'big 3' that have to be defeated.. which idk what blizzard would do after a void expansion tbh.

Assuming we defeat the void, there is nothing left to keep the light in check. After a down to Azeroth expansion in the middle, hopefully.

There's enough weirdness in the details (like the mountains in the first picture) that I'm thinking this is a custom Stable Diffusion model or LoRA trained using WoW screenshots. @Hitei already showed us that it can be done.

So it's an Avaloren expansion with dwarves, xalatath and black empire. The Shadow in the title refers to black empire.

The Nerubians were literally created by the Old Gods.

On top of the fact that there were Old God creatures in Azjol-Nerub:

- The Nerubians;
- Twilight's Hammer and Faceless Ones in the dungeon;
- That Forgotten One in WC3 that barred Arthas' path.

You see? You can't make Underground without the Old Gods.

Just like you couldn't set a storyline in the Twisting Nether without involving the Legion.

Some factions and places are inseparable.

There would need to be a well written antagonist faction and lead to top the big three or an entire reboot for WoW. I don't see anything working well.. It'll be like how the state the MCU is currently in after Endgame, except without Kang and Doom.

Created by the Old Gods is completely irrelevant because they are literally Scourge aligned forces. The Old Gods are literally not the main antagonists of Azjol Nerub.

That trail of thought is so flawed. Is Blackrock Depths a Titan dungeon because the Titans created Earthen who then devolved into Dwarves?

What about Maraudon? Which is underground and literally a centaur dungeon with an elemental theme.

Deadmines? I must have missed the tentacles.
