Can ercarp give us a definitive answer as to which leak first referred to the acronym of the expansion being SoA?
The 8.2 "leak" of Shadowlands also had an "Alnir Riftlands" on its map. https://i.imgur.com/5S7McrG.jpg
I don't know if that's ever been proven to be fake and not an early draft of Shadowlands, but at least someone was thinking about it post-Legion
Wildcard theory: “Rift of Aln” is actually for WoW Classic and is going to be a content patch for classic+ with an emerald dream/nightmare themed raid to coincide with what we’re getting in retail. Both of the 12 month sub mounts for classic are also emerald drakes, perhaps we’ve been getting teased about this for a long time.
The riftofaln domain ends up at their HQ in Irvine so I'm guessing it is just something they introduced around COVID for working at home or something. Given its name I wouldn't be surprised if it's just what they name the thing where the VPN connections come in on or something (with its name and the internet being the Twisting Nether/Great Beyond). They wouldn't host sites at the HQ, that is a recipe for disaster. We can probably ignore it, especially given its age.
Maybe Khaz Algar is the real world location of the Emerald Dream analogue for the Rift of Aln
Edit: Im dumb

Full Blizzcon schedule!
I want to say I can't believe people still believe that. But even earlier this leak season someone actually still brought up the old expansion list hoax.
It's definitely fake, it's obviously so fanfic - it completely missed what the Shadowlands ended up being including assuming because there is "Shadow" in the name it must beconnected to the void thus Nyalotha in the center.
