I suppose I would offer the counterpoint that they might just be geeking out with a friend on social media in a personal capacity, which is not at all uncommon at this gathering of geeks. It was originally posted by said friend as well, with the dev namedropped so I wouldn't automatically go to some grand calculation behind her actions.

Personally I love the idea that there's a bunch of Blizzard people making burner accounts, shoving around fake leaks here and there, building up hype with the Liadrin vs Arthas thing, then Holy/Void bracelet and the Muradin picture, just to red herring lead us in circles lmao.

If they didn't agree they probably shouldn't be pushing 1.15 builds to publicly visible patch endpoints since April of this year.

Let alone pushing it to PTR which they did yesterday, albeit without a public client yet.

We also had mm 2? 10.2 builds pushed yesterday , do we know what they were actually ?

Personally I prefer the broader perspective; having what are virtually gods be purely benevolent feels lazy and unrealistic to me. There's no way deities would operate on the same moral framework as mortals, that's massively idealised.

Early WoW portrayed them very benevolently because in canon we basically only had the Dwarves as a source of information, and they revere the Titans so of course they seem super.

We're now in much closer proximity, and it makes sense for some of the veneer to fall off. Very 'don't meet your heroes' type stuff, because they're probably not everything you build them up to be. This tracks very closely to IRL mythological pantheons like the Olympians - Zeus for instance was a badass, but also a giant douche.

Ulimately a matter of personal preference in story telling though, so w/e.

In general, I agree. I think there should be good, bad, and in-between deities. It plays closer to real-world myth and folklore.

My main grievance with Wow was that they had established canon they ignored. Chronicles was meant as an objective account of the universe. In order to justify the new story direction they ignored previous work.

However, I would say that the moral framework of some deities (not all) and mortals wouldn’t be that distant. Deities in religion and myth bring/embody knowledge, ideals, morals etc. so their compass shouldn’t be that off from mankind. Just on a grander scale. Unless that is what you mean by framework.
