@Teriz, I will start calling them tinker if you can finally accept that other races than goblins/gnomes/Vulpera can be that class
You get it! Like, I used to not care for Tinkers until a year or two ago when I realized that Blizz was at a point where we could have Mechas. Between dragonriding and everything else a Tinker/Artificer could be done justice now. Whereas if one was released even around Cata we would probably get, at most, a backpack or extra guns.

The moment the opening ceremony starts or right before is when you start paying attention. If there is a press embargo it is likely set to the opening, which means all the info will be out there before the announcement is actually done. If there isn't, they might drop it all the moment the announcement is happening, which would be a first as well.

generally expansions are revealed in the opening ceremony towards the end I believe

IDK I think there is good reasons to do it with the talent system as is where you dont have to build out as many rows of new talents in the game which is easier to balance.

5 levels while I wouldnt like it makes sense from that perspective

The reveal will happen during the opening ceremony for sure. They usually save the WoW reveals for closer to the end of the ceremony, but no guarantee it won't be early this year.

Na, they already designed the two talent trees exactly for that problem. It's only 5 new points per tree.

The wall behind them blows up and sends them all scurrying as a small army of blingtrons come in, chased by several shredders. "I gotta get outa here!" As Gallywix jumps into his mech and rockets back toward the surface, the screen rolls upward past him to Gnomeregan. Mechatorq is there looking over schematics of a portable mech device that can fit inside a backpack (schematic is also a nod to the rumble gnome *wink*. Suddenly the alarms go off all around, and the high tinker just furrows his brow and nods as he jumps into his mech along with several other gnomish pilots. As a group, they run off toward a sink hole that opened up in the hangar and blingtrons flood out to fight them. Fade.

I see them doing it just so they don't have to deal with the headache of another 10 talent points to their new trees. In fact I forsee them squashing the level cap down to 40 just because alternating between a point for one of your two trees has felt really tedious during the leveling experience. 40 level cap, 2 talent points each level.

Cataclysm is fine. The people asking for a revamp are asking for the story events of the 4th war & aftermath to be represented in the original settings. With Chromie Time, the leveling experience was already revamped in 9.0 & it has received universally positive feedback.

This, 1000x. 5 levels in an expansion has one of two problems.

    1) It feels like it takes too long between levels so the feeling of progression is lost.

    2) It feels way too short despite actually being about the same effective time it took previously.

Firstly, Phil spencer arrives on stage, crashes the whole thing, replace blizzard logo with Xbox game passes for everyone, everyone is happy. this is how democracy dies, with thunderous applause, Palpatine style

One reason Blizzard stated for just 5 levels in Cata was to avoid hitting absurd levels such as 130. Which we never did (!)...because they just halved our levels instead, which they could/will easily do again once we hit 100.
So future 5 level expansions would make zero sense now since they long ago solved the issue that brought them about.

And as noted by others, the talent trees only need 5 points per 10 levels - and odd level cap would make this situation needlessly 'clunky'.

  14. #51234
I dont disagree but I can see a world where if you build down a row and keep doing that with split offs in what you can access in 2 expansions that is like 15 new talents you need to develop per class/spec.

We went through multiple expacs where they literally just kept the base talents effectively the same and layered on borrowed power since it was easier to do generalized rather than further talents in a compact design space. Like it wouldnt be long till their is talent overlap to a certain extent or very very non-meaningful talents.

Cataclysm is not fine, especially not now. EK and Kalimdor need updating.

/bow Systems include a minigame exclusive to artificers/tinkers that plays like Operation and has you repairing your mech instead of just pressing the anvil on the vendor.

They do, but not for leveling purposes. IMO

Leveling gives them a reason to have new quests but yeah.

I meant not endgame leveling. For 1-60 you have so much choice, no need to revamp the Cata zones for that.

I'll laugh my butt off if the Algarian Stormrider is a mechanical gryphon created by Earthen artificers.
