Didn't Blizzard say they would never do a straight up Void expansion because it forces the expansion to be uniform aesthetically?

Blizzard says many things.

Blizzard also said they'd never give the Alliance High elves in any way because Neutral Pandaren made things too ambiguous and confusing for PvPers.

Blizzard made Legion varied enough in terms of setting so they can make the same for Void expansion.

No faction war BS, No double storyline BS, just the Void. Like Legion was just the Legion or Shadowlands was just Death.

There's always going to be a supporting story for the sake of enemy and location diversity. I am in agreement they pulled more than needed from Deathwing with the elements also being a big tug, albeit part of the lack of Void presence was the fact that N'Zoth was supposed to be a man behind the man.

Basically, even if you get your void expac, don't expect it to be the sole focus period. We still had Arakoaa, most of Auchindoun, Storm Peaks, etc. in any number of expacs that were secondary or tertiary.
