Not going to lie, i expected Hero Talents to change the look of spells, not be passive % buffs to stats and damage/healing.
Thats just classic passives under fancy names.

I surely hope so. It comes across like very hypocritical when they claim it's just to make it look as good as possible, while simultaneously denying that to players.
Also, Americans basically cheer and applaud everything, no matter how inane. So having no applause when he said they were denying players this feature should not be lost on Ion. The audience might as well have been booing him.

The difference is that every hunter uses magic-infused arrows, every paladin uses the light, and Mountain Kings is just a name for a warrior. Pushing hunter magic slightly more shadowy (they already have DR abilities, but putting that aside) is not odd. Other paladins using the sun's light instead of straight up light is not odd, they already all have firey abilities. Every warrior uses earth/thunder and has for 20 years, so that is not odd. Deathstalkers are just poison using shadowy rogues like every other rogue.
Priests are a Void/shadow and Light class, and Elune isn't even a deity for either. She's a Life/Nature + Astral (read: Nature + Arcane) deity. Tyrande being a "priest" was already super weird because she's closer to being a balance druid than actually fitting into the game's general priest class sense. Any other race in the game besides Night Elves, Tauren or weird Nightborne using astral, moon and star abilities would be just straight up bizarre.
There was an interview with some devs released this morning where they said they're going to keep 2023's patch cadence in 2024, even without an actual 10.3.
So yes, we'll definitely get a fated raid season, but it has to be more than that. 10.2.5 probably won't be out until January, but they have to continue to offer something throughout the year... January to "Fall 2024" for the release of The War Within is a really long time not to give us extra stuff to do.
Yeah. I do think this is a messaging issue on their end, but a lot of people seem to be conflating it either with the popular concept of class skins, or even confusing it with SoD's skill system which radically alters specs. This is just a different iteration on what would be 10 new talent points with some flavor behind it.
Honestly of the whole announcement, the only thing meh to me is the Hero Talents... the list they showed is really underwhelming. I got my hopes up when I heard Far Seer, Dark Ranger, Keeper of the Grove. Thought they were going to cover all the old WC3 stuff + some long asked for stuff.
The fuck is Fatebound? Where is Necromancer? Tinker? Spellbreaker? Shadow Hunter? BLADEMASTER? HELLO?
No we got.... Slayer..... Deathstalker?
I wanted these to be more cosmetic/spell FX. It's all boring numerical passives and mechanics.
Let down on this one, sorry.
I really hope Ion misspoke when he said Vigor upgrades being carried forward. It's the part that makes Dragonriding the most boring, and limits fun abilities the most.

Gotta say after the initial features Trailer for both Classic and Retail I was a bit skeptical but in both cases the Panels turned me around completely. SoD looks amazing and I'm a very big fan of progressive leveling. On the Retail side Hero talents and Delves look like great additions.
Overall for WoW this is probably the best Blizzcon since 2017/18.
I think we are only getting 2 more patches after 10.2.
10.2-Nov 8th
10.2.5-Finale of DF- Jan 23rd
10.2.7-story bridge from DF to TWW with minor world content updates, plus fated season- May 7th
11.0 Prepatch- September 10th
TWW launch- October 8th 2024
Alpha starting around mid April.
Uhhhh, these are JUST THE NAMES. They have no influence over the talents in the tree. We all will be modifying existing abilities, as shown. Having Necro name wont magically make locks rise undead.
And they did confirm cosmetics, for example warrior tree making some abilities lightning charged.
Sometimes, the light of the moon is a key to other spaces. I've found a place where, for a night or two, the streets curve in unfamiliar ways. If I walk here, I might find insight, or I might be touched by madness.
Part of me thinks they picked a lot of shitty names for the hero specs so they could purposefully switch them to fanservice ones (Blademaster) for an easy win with the community.
