Am I the only one here who expects the expansion that opens with the sword would have us do something involving the sword? Is the sword really just the setting for cinematic? The idea of that would be wild. It's like if after the Dragonflight cinematic they announced the actual expansion would take place on the moon.

No, I expect something too. May not be a complete revamp of the zone, but in the area something will change around the sword.

    ???

    What?

Dragonflight is very clearly about dragons, but it's explicitly a side story and setting about dragons.

The War Within is about going underground, but it's more about the 3 expansion spanning story they're trying to sell us on more than the individual premise, because they're not doing that this time.

(It's also a double meaning like Cataclysm was anyway. The War Within is also referring to Alleria, Anduin, their natures.)

What you saw was more like Old Soldier, even if it's the "intro."

I think Silithus and the sword will play a big part in the three upcoming expansions, and it'll only get dealt with on the last one.

I’m very interested to find out more about the hero talents.
The Shaman and Mage ones are intriguing.

MMO champ players are mostly like this. If someone suggests something isn't in WoW (yet), they will argue that it is ridiculous and it would never happen. They would change their mind about the same thing when Blizz announced that thing, just the next day. These things include Pandaren, cross-realm dungeons, cross-faction raids, etc.

If so, that's not really a revamp in the sense Ersula is trying to push. A hypothetical second Cataclysm style revamp won't involve a Silithus zone that's 80% a giant doodad.

Yes, it is. Maybe you should actually listen to what Thrall says. The sword has played it's role. It's not important anymore.

TBH, this is the only thing that interests me. If there's a talent for Pack Master to have all of their pets have the Ferocity, Tenacity and Cunning buffs (Max HP, Leech and Movement Speed), and be able to match all of our animal companions and dire beasts, I would definitely be going to purchase the game just for that.

The one set in Northrend? Nah, I'm counting on the entire reason Dorn is set swimming distance from Silithus is because its going to be a patch zone.

It might be that big. Silithus isn't exactly dense with questing areas. A revamp wouldn't be that big a deal imo. I do fully expect there to be events that happen there, and them to be pretty epic and central to the story.

That's the thing - it was a lazy update in Cata. It doesn't have to be lacking in density or relevance.

The qiraji and the entire lore of that area including elements and whatnot could be so much more.

I doubt they're putting a LOT into it. MAYBE they will update the terrain slightly near the impact.

I also made this point. In my theorized patch zone. Silithus, Ungoro & Uldum would be rolled into one zone. Even with all those three they would be tiny for a modern zone. The part with the sword really is just a space for the doodad.

Maybe I'm reading too much into this, but it's kind of underwhelming. Hopefully Midnight won't be and it will be cool, but yeah
I think they are 100% revamping the zones. It might have been an unfortunate misspeak on her side, but I believe they are reshaping the northren part of Eastern Kingdoms into a kingdom of Quel'thalas with some additions like Amani region being troll influenced perhaps. Yesterday someone wrote about an idea of zones changing from light to void theme, so also maybe something like that?

Since the emphasis is put very strongly on Quel'thalas and the Sunwell, it's guaranteed it will be blood elves, ren'dorei and other "tribes" centered.

Partial revamps is a safe and logical way to rebuild the world without risking too many resources for an uncertain level of success, I guess. The thing to remember is to avoid coupling revamp with a specific, storydriven theme, like Cataclysm did.

Kind of a waste for the stuff specific to Silithus, then, if it never changed.

This is how misinformation spreads. They were talking about Hallowfall, I believe.

Disregard! You were talking about "an idea" on here for that expac, my mistake.

We don't know if the actual expansion will be set in Northrend, only that it starts there with Ulduar. Technically Shadowlands also started in Northrend.

Anyone wanting to hurt the world soul would be trying to use it for that purpose. That's what it was made for, and is the premise of the expansion. If you were Xal'atath would you really just ignore it?

    Metzen said Northrend, not Ulduar.

Possibly, it could be more centered directly around the sword.

I'm talking about a post-revamp Silithus, Ersula. Keep up.

An ostensible next 20 years Silithus wouldn't have the damn sword in it.

    ?????

We return to the old world of Northrend and travel to Ulduar to witness the return of the Titans.

They're describing a series of steps and events. "Over the meadow and through the woods to grandmother's house we go" doesn't mean I plan to spend 12 hours in the meadow.

Think I saw no rep grind for them and we unlock it as part of the story/campaign (probably mid to last chapter)

So I guess the solution here is simple - we'll murder everyone.
