I mean there is a large number of events in ED. Did people expect something else? Any additional content elsewhere was saved for .5 & .7
It's not like they are making more, they are just spreading it around.

Usual bitching on patch day1, I don't know what you expect from these people.
Also yeah, DF is constructed this way that big patches are mostly usual chunks of content - zone, raid, season; while smaller ones have less expected stuff. Especially know, since we don't have roadmap yet.

I feel they did a decent job adding content to the zone. Also like with Zaralek, the zone's armor set is GORGEOUS and I absolutely want all colors.
I'll agree though that issues with voice acting are just not excusable to me. You really only experience something for the first time once and having it be a mess with badly sync'd or missing voice just sucks.
I will say, I laugh at them calling it "The Emerald Dream". Bitch, the Emerald Dream is larger than all continents on Azeroth combined, not a tiny island.

You can laugh at 7.3 and Argus too I guess, same situation. We get through this discussion 1000 times already, there are well places in Azeroth that would be boring as full continent, sometimes they add 3-4 zones with different biomes and call it continent (Outland, Northrend, Broken Isles), sometimes they show it as part of something bigger and call it a patch (Argus, Nazjatar, Dream).
i really don't like how they drip feed content. a patch every 8 weeks mean shit when said patch has no content. 10.2 looks once again barebone. once again they're relying on the seasonal stuff (m+, raid and pvp) to carry the game.

Lets be honest, even if the ED was used to ita fullest. Spread over several zones.. it would just get boring really fast. The ED on itself isnt perse super interesting, even if they have a fire zone, earth zone.. it would not matter. My fatigue would hit very fast on this topic, especially if it was the main theme of an expansion.
This is the ED and probably the most you can get out of it. We have all the characters involved, Cenarius, Tyrande etc. Its more then enough.
Only thing on Argus that caused awe were skyboxes, even Antorus didn't really looked like Burning Legion HQ should. Beside that we had 1 really good biome (Mac'Aree, yep, that was it called) and wastelands Broken Shore style.
So imo if we talk about looks Argus>ED, if we talk about convenience ED>Argus (not spliting zone into minizones, 2 types all flying available almost instantly). So far only thing I really hate is making it separate instance with loading screen - it should be seamless like Zaralek, they literally had free space for that.
Oh it's not bad. I've enjoyed it so far and I am sure it will keep me interested for longer than Zaralek if only because it just looks better. It is a shame they wasted their better ED villains for a filler arc in Legion. I still think we should have had a full expansion between Wrath and Cata that detailed the events of Stormrage and the Me'dan comic. Siege of Eye of Ysera, assaulting the Rift of Aln and then Cho'gall trying to rez C'thun. We could have had some ED zones, then an Ahn'Qiraj zone and possibly Uldum (and have a proper Elemental Planes expansion after)
I feel like this is the kind of stuff that would be great with Annual expansions. Or at least closer to one like what we seem to be getting going forward.
A full two year expansion would have had to justify it's length with all kinds of stuff, whereas an annual expansion could go for something more specific, like what we seem to be getting in Midnight at least, with the Quel'thalas expansion.
The world revamp dream will never die!
This cutscene was amazing: But the above cutscene is terrible. There's an easy rule to follow here. If you don't want the in-game, in-engine cutscenes to look like crap, don't do extreme closeups of the models. Save extreme closeups & dialog for the pre-rendered cutscenes.
Uhhh, that is not a simple in-game cinematic lol, that is prerendered with tons of custom animations. Would love it if we got these instead of the ones that are just existing emotes, some dialogue, and some matching lip flaps, but those clearly take way more time and effort than the 10.2 cinematics we've seen so far. I do wish they'd just have NPC's do the dialogue in game for more of these than the crappy cutscenes tho. Easier to suspend disbelief when the presentation stays the normal in game POV than when it goes to a cutscene that is distractingly bad.
do you think dragonflight was cut short? that would explain the drop in quality.
Idk about cut short, I'd guess before 10.0 launched they knew where they wanted to go with everything since we'd already known about an underground zone that became Zaralek and there was some datamining pointing to what became Amirdrassil, but I wouldn't at all be surprised if there was a bare bones team for the questing and story telling of 10.2 with most people working on WW or even Midnight stuff since theyve apparently re-organized the team that they can work on more than one thing at a time.
Edit: In a different direction I'm curious what theyll do for the new dungeons in Midnight. I'd bet a revamped Zul'Aman ends up as the megadungeon if it doesnt become a raid of its own. But outside of that it feels like basing it off of TBC Quel'thalas there aren't a ton of different notable areas to turn into dungeons that won't have a similar feel to each other. Here's a potential list that I can think of:
1. Deathholme - leftover undead stuff. (also could justify updated art assests that can then also be used in The Last Titan in Northrend revamp)
2. Magister's terrace - legacy of Kael'thas stuff, maybe demonic leftover? Or could make it void stuff since its so close to to the Sunwell.
3. Windrunner Spire - Seems like it could be easily made into a dungeon. Cool location on a clif overlooking the sea. Lore significance. Could be void or ghost focused.
4. Troll dungeon - maybe not if Zul'aman ends up as a raid or the mega dungeon just for enemy/environment variety but otherwise easy add.
5. Some sort of void invasion - Think it'd be cool to see the ruins of silvermoon or some section of silvermoon city being invaded and overrun by void forces.
Thats all I've got really. There are other existing locations that could be made into dungeons but without a pretty significant change in environment or the inclusion of a whole new zone with new locations, everything else feels like it'd just be more troll or Blood elf towns.
