Malfurion died for nothing because Ysera was the most useless character of Dragonflight and she's already gone.
Why Malfurion is always such a loser? His only Win in WoW was when he killed some random grunt in that BfA cinematic.

How long would've Malfurion been in Ardenweald? A few weeks? He had probably just finished building his nest, and now he's getting whisked back to the mortal realm ...
Wonderful cinematic ! This music ... gives me chills
For those who want Druids For All, Malfurion coming back is definitely your hook.
It may be an Impostor Malfurion/Dreadlord though (beware the eyes of green)
"My work here is done."
"But you didn't do anything."
ROOOOAR
Feels like they were afraid to have Merithra take over without Ysera giving her blessing, verbally, about 15 times, before they could turn it over to her.
Kinda like how 70% of the retaking Lordaeron/Dark Ranger questline was shilling the fuck out of Calia while strawmanning the issues people have.
Maybe he'll come back in his Winter Fury fit from Hearthstone
Would it be too much to hope for maybe Malfurion to like have some Ardenweald-ish stylings to him now?
...probably.
Well, Ardenweald has a direct connection to Azeroth now.
So the WQ sending some of her Sylvar and Faeries to serve the tree would be fitting.

When are female night elves getting an option for Tyrande's more athletic body type?
PS: These two cutscenes they just released are in-game cutscenes, but they have the quality of pre-rendered ones. Guess they put all of the resources for the cutscenes that come to the end of the expansion it seems.

I wonder if they just wanted to rez Ysera straight up in SL but chickened out and we got this mess out of it or if they wanted to write a mother-daughter story. Which I get is an interesting thing to write but I'd rather have a better story; Merithra could have dealt with her doubt by building on her relationship with her son, taking advice from Alexstrasza or even interacting with Cenarius who should be like a brother to her.
They've already confirmed their primary concern was that they didn't know how to write both Tyrande and Malfurion for this storyline. But it also allowed them to have Ysera on the marketing naturals and for her to properly pass down the title to Merithra.
Malfurions stay in Ardenweald may also have some lasting consequences.
I really don't think the idea was to just rez Ysera as there was no logical point to it. It would be scanning the thread they set up in BFA, and Dragon Isles is mostly based on the dragon story in BFA.
So while the ending cinematic was disappointing it does bring up an interesting question
How powerful is Azeroth?
Like she could have given the aspects new powers but instead was able to restore them and empower vyranoth.
Plus the way they described her presence....if anyone watched Angel or Reboot then you'll be familiar with the female character that essentially brainwashes those who gaze upon her.
Tldr: Azeroth is evil and we will fight her and her fanatics in tlt
So... what's Vyranoth the Aspect of?

It's because he's too powerful
The 4th war made no sense because he could have (according to his characterization in books) wiped them out immediately. Then you look at the threats here in DF and outside of the incarnates he would be able to body them. So they had to put him out of commission like with the arrow in BFA

Uncertain and searching...I don't know why I continue hoping for a non-villainous character to have resolve. At least this further indicates he won't be one.
