It's also important to note that Season of Discovery phase 2 will be starting on a Thursday (February 8th) rather than on a Tuesday.

Why they do it on a Thursday and not a Tuesday like usual is unknown to me.

Phase 1 and Hardcore also released on Thursdays, seem they want it separate from the typical reset day for retail and normal Classic.

Yea, as much as I'm also on the 10.2.6 reveal hype train, there was never a chance they'd let phase 2 of SoD share a week with a retail announcement. I'm also under the belief it's entirely possible next week has the same treatment. SoD news/updates only.

Simple, that's because you've already made up your mind that you must be right about certain features being "off-limits" or "impossible" for a .6 patch (which, in itself, is an unprecedented patch number, so the unprecedented is the ordinary here).

or im just basing it off of what content has been delivered in minor patches thus far in the expansion? couldnt be that right? just because its a .6 instead of .5 and .7 doesn't mean it isnt a minor patch. by the very nature of it being 10.2.6 its smaller than a 10.X. thats how patches work

They are hyping it because it has more elaborate features in store.

Only, your premise doesn't make sense.

You think this patch will only have a catch-up system and some random filler questline about pirates, but this is irrelevant stuff doesn't warrant a mystery campaign.

My premise makes sense (Blizzard doing mystery campaign because this patch will have cool/unpredictable feature); your premise does not make sense (Blizzard doing mystery campaign because this patch will have catch-up system and maybe a random new questline, which is the ordinary and expected).

I actually think itll be a patch zone like forbidden reach with some fun borrowed power system similar to the annulet to make season 4 easy and fun. Thats been my take for a long time. A longer-than-usual communications pause after a poorly received patch is not a great look, but considering that the 10.2.7 stuff is ALREADY IN THE FILES (or at least a good portion: Timerunning and the heritage quest NPCs are in 10.2.5) and not 10.2.6, they must be banking that the contents are worth the dip.

So when do we start talking about how the big Microsoft/Xbox news will impact WoW? Will it at all?

If you're referring to the potential of no more Xbox, then it could possibly kill off the WoW on console debate.
