Before this, Blizzard did not test patches for PTR only if it was lore quest and cinematics. If this is a new game mechanic then they need PTR to get feedback.

Therefore, it seems to me that the new patch will be similar to the Gilneas patch, only a little more important, maybe СGI cinematic.

Well, Blizzard needs to somehow restore interest in the lore. The Blizzcon cinematic was a failure, and Chris knew it in advance

the game right now needs good gameplay content. almost no one cares about the story in wow anymore. not after bfa, shadowlands and dragonflight

10.2.6 is going to be largely gameplay, I doubt there's going to be a lot of lore, that seems to be coming in 10.2.7.

Eww for a different reason: I think the way they handled Augmentation evokers is far superior to the Gilneas or Dark Ranger customization quests. Wherein the result for Aug was good, Gilneas was bad & customization was a tradeoff.

    For Augmentation they...
    Foreshadowed it over several patches
    tested it on the ptr
released a presentation before it went on the ptr

    For retaking Gilneas...
Released without spoiling, but we did know it related to Gilneas
The secrecy increased the hype, but the actual product didn't reach the expectations set by that hype
loreheads were dubious about faction elements before they could get used to them so negative hype overlapped the positvive

gameplay patch without PTR test it will be one big mistake. Without testing they can't even create a quest line without screwing it up.

I agree that a major goal of the World Soul Saga should be to bring back faith in the lore, but I don't exactly agree with your cinematic point. It wasn't the WoD cinematic, but it felt pretty clearly like a refocus with the two faction mains and the obvious focus of the expansion. I wouldn't be surprised if it was made later in schedule than usual due to what seems to be a lot of reframing TWW to fit the Saga.

And I know your point is lore, but I think people were pretty universally stunned by the quality of the cinematic.

he's literally the lamest cinematic ever, cinematic with stupid close-ups and lack of any action

That's why they've specifically been testing it in a wider way internally (which we can tell as well as it's been on encrypted endpoints for far longer than any other patch), one of the waves of teasing tweets was right after they had a team-wide testing session. It's not like they don't know not testing it on PTR isn't dangerous, as Holly said...

This is risky experiment and could be a bit bumpy, though we are doing everything we can to ensure success.
We'll see what ends up happening, either way I'm expecting a lot of hotfixes, I just hope it's largely playable.

Actually, it's mostly AndUiN iS SaD he keeps having problem with.
Sometimes, the light of the moon is a key to other spaces. I've found a place where, for a night or two, the streets curve in unfamiliar ways. If I walk here, I might find insight, or I might be touched by madness.

10.3 would probably have the unstated expectation of a raid a d/or full new questing area of story. A minor parch could be anything from a mini-raid to a single questline and more cosmetics on the Trading Post.

10.1.5 was a really big patch. (Much bigger than 10.2.5) A major patch (x.x) just means a raid at this point, as 10.2 demonstrated, or at least a raid with at least 5+ bosses. And with the exception of season 4, correspond with a seasonal tier.

10.1.5 was a big patch for a .5 patch. even if 10.2.6 was around the same size it would still not justify 2 months of radio silence and all the teasing they did

a mega dungeon and an entirely new spec would absolutely justify the silence lol (imo)

I think a wild card is what's going on with the Decatriach Gnolls, they don't seem to fit into anything in Worldsoul Saga but they were teased pretty clearly as something to expect in the future.

I really don't expect a new dungeon but some kind of fight against the Decatriarch (who Mon Ark said will try and take Amirdrassil... or some other tree) has been more or less set up.

That's why my initial reaction was Tuskaar & Gnoll allied races for 10.2.6, under the premise that both come under attack by pirates & the Alliance & Horde roll out to help each group respectively. (They are reskins of Pandarans & Gnolls but with updated basic animations. The gnoll neutral loops between a new animation & the worgen neutral, the tuskaar bow is identical to pandarans' for example)

This will probably be part of the updated NE starting experience whenever that happens.
