One more sleep to go before we're free from the nightmare of 10.2.6 and not knowing what the heck is going on in WoW.

    Any last minute predictions?

    IIRC, these are our clues:

    - Time-limited event
    - Requires a sub but not a DF license
    - Pirates, using Freehold assets
    - Something the community has been discussing
    - Might involve trees and chickens
    - Seemingly uses some nifty tech
    - Devs are very excited
    - Big enough for WoW to make a new logo for it
    - Seems like Blizzard is doing a content creator event
    - Also seems like Twitch drops are inbound

    Hmm.

I hope it gives us the following:

    1. A cool playable area, such as Plunder Isle or Islands
    2. Repeatability for transmogs and XP
    3. Something lasting, like the system returning later

A type of island where new alts can level up in time for War Within would be very welcome. Like, if Island Expeditions, Adventure Mode, the Mage Tower, the Brawler's Guild, Torghast, Exile's Reach and the Timeless Isle had a baby (a mutant, at that point).

A little NPC camp with a quartermaster and stuff. Then you enter through the gates as any level, and find yourself in some type of jungle with a ton of stuff going on.

Loot chests, kill mobs, kill players (or AI), gain power, find cool shit, and progress. The longer you last, the bigger the rewards as you exit. More XP, currency, transmogs or whatever.

Perhaps you either play alone or in optional groups.

It seems like the gameplay activity is meant to cause a buzz on Twitch, since they're changing their logo temporarily, adding Twitch drops, and involving content creators. So they probably want it to be fun to watch and chat about.

A name? Perhaps... Skirmish on Plunder Isle or something? Captain Nightsquall's Rumble?

I’m hoping that pirates have stumbled across some antiquated titan tech and have repurposed it for raiding and pillaging.

Alerting us, the hero’s, that there’s a new threat/vulnerability to take care of, and many some new tech minded intrepid explorers could make use of an abundance of left over titan tech…

Yeah, it’s really interesting that Blizzard couldn’t up with a third spec for Demon Hunters. I thought for sure they would have came up with SOMETHING by this point.

That said, thanks to the hero talents, if Blizzard is bringing in a new spec mid expansion, the only way they can do it is with a new class mid expansion. I will stress that it’s unlikely but not out of the question.

If there is a new support spec it's probably in the Midnight/TLT class and the usual suspects fit the bill (Void/Mechanical both have plenty of ways to do it )

I assume it relates to the promise of "Pirate seeking to plunder the Dragon Isle's bounty" mentioned in the DF reveal that, besides a few generic npcs in the forgotten reach, hasn't showed up yet.

Honestly not a bad idea. Some sort of support spec with the intention of manipulating the Twisting Nether, just as parts of the Legion did. Completes DH specs, fits the xpac and fits the lore of the class.

It would work with DH but I was more thinking the inevitable void class they will introduce to pair against Paladin.

I know people are pining for a void class, but I simply don't see it. Gameplay-wise Void simply doesn't separate itself very strongly from Shadow magic in general. Heck, Shadow Priests had to go through multiple iterations before it felt somewhat different from Affliction, and frankly it still struggles with it to this day. An entirely new class utilizing Shadow/Void just doesn't seem feasible given existing gameplay constraints.

It'll be quite interesting to see how Voidweaver and Archon deal with the concept.

Only one spec of a one class being tied to an entire magic force in WoW is silly. It's not like Necromancer vs DK, there's no other class or spec that taps into it save for Warlock Voidwalkers. Unless the focus is entirely on a new race in Midnight I expect a new class that uses Sarkareth style void magic.

Well gameplay-wise, what separates Void from Shadow magic? In other words, what's something cool this Void class could do that Shadow Priests or the other Shadow-based specs can't currently do?

I think that'll be a big distinction they're going to try to make with Midnight. Void magic never felt cooler than the Shadowmoon in WoD. I can't imagine there's not something they can milk out of this newer cosmic emptiness they're giving it.

I genuinely thought DH's would have a 3rd spec by now, probably not happening tbh.

As for Evokers, I don't see them making them available to other races. The easiest thing for them to do is just allow other visages, Belf, Orc etc. Makes so much more sense. Hope they do it asap tbh, I want a different race for my Evoker

I mean, there is the Cosmic Void stuff they've introduced with Sarkareth which is a strong enough foundation to build a class around.

I can't answer that because I do not let myself get suckered into a mindset that tells me I have to minmax to the extreme to play extremely well.

Well, since you can switch for free there isn't really any option besides to minmax it if you wanna get Cutting Edge imo. Anything else is just shitting on the other 19 people in your raid. It's like not using pots or a flask.

It would be different if you had to pick your hero spec at the start of an expansion and could never switch besides paying 10-20 euro to get a 1% dmg increase (so basically, racials), but that's not how it's working.

Dear god, it's 10.2.6 day! Can we stop these endless debates about third specs and new classes?

    Get hype!

I assume after the World Soul trilogy will see yet another reset of the talent system so if DH is to get a new spec, it will happen after that.
