My guess is that the only reason this patch is hyped so much is the fact it's not on the PTR. If it was it would just be another forgetable minor patch.

It's still more hyped than any other minor patch. They made a full "developer update" only to say the day of release, they added the pirate flag as a mystery in the 2024 wow schedule, and the lead developer keeps saying it's the coolest shit ever.

That dev update wasn't planned to be just that though. 100% something went wrong behind the back, hence the delay and 2 sentences "dev update".

I mean, there is the Cosmic Void stuff they've introduced with Sarkareth which is a strong enough foundation to build a class around.

Eh… most of Sarkareth’s void kit can’t be transferred to classes. Also some of it involves dropping comets and causing supernovas, which Mages already do, or it’s a void version of Evoker abilities like Void Blossom and Abyssal Breath.

Sorry but everyone in this thread is pretty clearly terminally online and hunts for WoW news. That doesn't mean the community is. Also curiosity and having free time is different than hype.

This. I can't imagine what the "tension" was behind the scenes that the devs were eluding to. I had a theory it was up in the air if the patch was going to be ready by the end of that thursday, so they didn't know until the end of the day if it would be going live on the 19th or the 26th. But that doesn't make sense because the creator event to promote it was still scheduled for this thursday; that couldn't have been rescheduled.

I actually didn't think about that. Depending on how much the patch is actually changing (if its not just about the event), wednesday raid night will be a shitshow wohoo.

I am not saying copy his abilities, but copy the general feels and aesthetic.

You can totally make a star-themed void spec, with proper Supernovas (because let's be honest, the Mage Supernova is a Supernova in name only), Star Showers and what not.
