Looks like they are adding a bunch of unused recolors for the Dragon Isles mounts as well as outdoor zone achievements.

Neat, and makes sense. Season 4 on the roadmap does mention "new open world rewards" after all.

That's unfortunately what happens when a dev team is split between three expansions. We can only hope that questlines that should be that big aren't post-expac content anymore because there aren't enough resources for them.

They picked the wrong thing to be filler content.

I think it's great that they're building on the expac conclusion timeline with new things like this and Fated raids, it is just a bummer that they can't be things that are still loose ends in the main world than side material. But I understand why.

What they actually said.

There are two rewards exclusively for match winners (the last player standing): a tabard and eyepatch. All other rewards are available to everyone through Renown. Each Renown level takes 2,500 plunder, with most matches awarding ~500. Each match should last 5-8 minutes and players can complete one quest per match, with no weekly limit. Although no end date is explicitly given, there are several mentions of a 6-week time frame, suggesting the game mode will end around the beginning of May.

It's also worth mentioning this is very much experimental, so they'll feel more comfortable tweaking it if needed.

And the new season codeword is Awakened which could mean . .. anything?

So looks like they are interested in taking this and running with it if players get behind it and love it and provide feedback:

"We are really focused on trying to break the rules. We really want to give players something that's super exciting, especially experimental, before The War Within launches," Salvatore said, referring to WoW's next expansion due later this year. Pretty sure there is no global release. It's split between NA and EU. Holly said in a tweet that they really tried but in the end they had to settle for the split release.

From what is shown with this plunderstorm event, we will be a blank class, and the abilites we pick up determine what we can do.

There are privat realms that have something like this already, but seeing blizzard toying with it, and saying they put in new tech.

Perhaps, we don't see new classes in WSS. Perhaps blizzard will surprise us and remove class restrictions after WSS.

I mean, they are giving us the ability to collect any transmog on a character in TWW plus all the account wide everything stuff. Hero Talents are allowing a more sideways progressions in what classes could be like.

And now this Plunderstorm...

It could be nothing. But if blizzard goes the way that, after WSS, we become a default adventurer class, with all the old classes becoming Specs and Hero Talents that can all be used by this Adventurer class? Now, that would be exciting.

FF14 already has basically this system, and it is soo much better for enjoyment of the game, not having to track progession on different alts, and all the pain that came with it.

If blizzard would be going down that road, heck, i would be more than happy. incredible happy.

Out of curiosity, are the three flying mounts added here all confirmed for dragonriding? The wilderling, parrot and shadowlands mount? I'm trying to find their animations.

Seems like the legendaries will go on. Honestly a bit disappointed with that seeing as I hate having to transmog an off-hand on my Evoker, but what can you do. Maybe the Evoker staff from Vault will still be better for Devoker at least.

The Shadowlands Veilstrider meta-achievement is turning into a FoS, with a new identical achievement giving a mount instead having been datamined. The mount is one of the Maw dragons we sometimes saw in Torghast.

I think it would be a great idea after the Trilogy. We should expect them to do a talent system revamp again anyway since 3 expacs of Hero Talents are bound to mean bloat. Revisiting the system at its core might be the best idea.
