Part of me is hoping the pandaria class sets being restricted only to armor types is a sign that they will be going away in tww/prepatch. I'm fine with armor type restrictions, but its annyoing that you can get like half a set of a different class in most raids but not all of them.

Honestly what really annoys me is that you used to be able to get most, if not all, of a set's lookalike pieces in a raid (there are some exceptions though). But you definitely can't anymore. May be due in part to the smaller amount of bosses but it annoys me to no end.

There is also big hopium involved since i'm kind of anxious that they forget that there are tier token and items in old raids as well as personal loot in the open world.

What good does it do if i can collect "every" item in a raid but still have to do it on every class for the tier sets. Or doing zereth mortis rares on different characters because the strenght sword will not drop for my priest even though i could technically collect it under the new rules.

I would say both restrictions are annoying for the same reason. Class restrictions because every new raid you have to cross your fingers and pray that the best looking pieces are off-set. And armour restrictions because you are constantly reminded of cool appearances you can't have.

At least we have the catalyst so that some classes don't end up without a full set, like Rogues not having the boots from the Antorus set except for NM (and later Mythic with the transmog vendor)

It's so easy to make 3D gear pieces clip with your character model these days, sometimes gear clips with its own set pieces and that's even on the human male model that's used as the default for modeling. You'll get some ugly clipping with it but we've already hit that point, the benefit of allowing it outweighs that.

Man, if i could transmog the Druid T8 moonlet on my priest, i don't think i would ever make a transmog that excludes it.

It's honestly baffling that they never made a single cloth alternative over the years.

I'm annoyed with the vanilla dark iron "Circle of Flame" that's super iconic for Dark Irons and the plate and leather versions of it were only available during WoW's 10th anniversary.

There's currently 1 hairstyle for females when they wear a hat (as 2D hair textures under the 3D ones were removed in SL iirc), so just make some more (long) hairstyles for each race that are exclusive to when the character is wearing a hat, don't even need to have as many choices as the regular hairstyles, just 1-3 would be enough.

Yeah the catalyst has been nice for that, and being able to eventually make a full set. And being able to upgrade it to the next color's been nice too. I hope they keep that.

I think that was just someone speculating about how they could use AI to do it in response to that article detailing how they use AI to shape 3D armor on more unconventionally shaped races. I'm not 100% positive though.

Yeah the catalyst has been nice for that, and being able to eventually make a full set. And being able to upgrade it to the next color's been nice too. I hope they keep that.

On the topic of upgrading gear. I wonder if they will add the Titanforging mechanic back. It's main weakness was always that it was always going to be better than the same unupgraded piece, but now that we have upgrade tracks the people getting them will in effect only get to save some flightstones and crests.

Was it? It's been so long since I saw the articles, but I think it was a WoW developer talking about using AI to add the hair back to the models.

That's why worgen heritage top hats look so bad, they were made extra wide for the human form hair to show with the hat and not clip. The 10.2 mage tier set hat was originally showing the hair on the ptr and even then it was super hard to find 1 hairstyle that did not clip for each race.

The option is still better than nothing. For most hairstyles it would absolutely clip, but I bet that there are several hats where you have loads of hairstyles that don't cause clipping.

Survival hunters should definitely have support for dual wielding, and warglaives are for sure too restrictive only being useable by DHs.

Similarly DW for Feral/Guardian (see Artifacts)
Along with Surv, that would increase the specs able to use Agi Daggers to 5.
I think Windwalker is currently limited to dual-wielding, while Brewmaster requires a 2h? That should be loosened as well.

But that brings me back to a pet wish of mine:
When you equip a one-handed weapon, a copy (for melee) or offhand/shield should materialize in the offhand, exactly like Artifacts worked.
This would eliminate the need to hunt for offhand upgrades. Maybe I overestimate this issue as I only play DW specs as alts, but I often have offhands that are quite lowlevel, and on casters it's even more complex, you have a staff, get a higher-lvl 1h but got no appropriate offhand.

The tech is already there, even to enchant and mog the offhand separately. But it'd still require some effort to map existing weapons to offhands/shields.

Unlocking 1h weapon appearances also unlocks the associated offhands/shields, at least for future items. Existing offhands/shields become cosmetic items to unlock the appearance.

That's part of the point I'm making. There'd obviously be lots of cases of bad clipping, but that's already happening with new gear releasing and there's nothing you can do to get around those cases. There's loads of races where their hands or whole arms will be clipping through 3D belts or leg pieces. Worgen and tauren have incredibly goofy looks for a lot of helms, and that's viewed as preferable to them just not showing at all.

I'd just rather it be an option the player can use to make mogs look even better. Sure, they could make them look even worse, but they already have the power to do that.

IIRC Dragonflight alpha first had the press NDA lift on Wednesday around noon EST and then the actual alpha went live Thursday evening.
