Honestly, I agree and I think it's just going to be inevitably responded to with intense emotions. Khadgar is one of the very few characters that has almost universal praise in a game prone to making main characters that are divisive at best. Mostly because he fucks off through most of the garbage stories and keeps a likeable personality. So people are gonna find a way to complain.

I maintain he isn't dead yet. No body etc.
Imo if people complain about Khadgar dying its going to highlight how unserious about people about a good story. I've been a very vocal critic of Legion but one thing it tried was to have permanent stakes with Varian and Vol'jin. BFA lacked this, Shadowlands lacked this, DF lacked this. None of the villains in these expansions killer anyone important to us, and that's a very simple way of setting up threat. Let's take for example, the classic example of the Red Wedding. In the books, Robb's wife lives. In the show, not so much, because the show was trying to build up Tywin Lannister as this a totally brutal guy. The book doesn't really need to do this because Tywin's brutality is the focus of previous chapters anyways.

What, the whole Arthas 9.2 discourse didn't show you that?

People complain about the "MCU-ification of WoW" when the majority of the playerbase wants MCU moments where their favourite superhero shows up. They don't care about a good story, they just care about cool moments.

So I pre purchased the epic edition when it was announced, the blue post talks about accounts already being flagged and being able to instal the beta, I can't see this yet on my battle net launcher, I assume that will happen on the 5th after the alpha servers go down and it comes back up as beta?

    Where does it say that?

I'm absolutely OK with Khadgar dying as long as he gets a kickass cinematic like Varian did. If he dies in some lame ass manner like Vol'jin, Blizz devs deserve the hate they'll get.

Eh, people cared about epic moments over a strong story well before the "MCU moments". Let's not reduce everything to our culture grievances.

One could argue that's literally what the RTS was all about. 20-30 minutes of gameplay for a 2 min cutscene of something cool happening.

I also think the MCU comparison isn't about small lore bits and quips but more about characters in DF behaving like its Infinity Wars. But that's also nothing new. WoW always copies pop culture. Hence how the Frozen Throne suddenly had Barad-dûr built around it in 2008

    It says:

If selected to participate in the beta test, your Battle.net account will already be flagged for access. Players who upgrade to the Epic Edition of The War Within will also gain immediate access to the beta.

Although I may have misunderstood it or read it out of context, but I got the impression my account would already be flagged and I'd be able to start testing it from the 5th June as I'd bought the epic edition?

I assume they will get us all on the 5th.

I think it’s just the FAQ for what will be the 5th onwards.

They’re automatically flagged from having the pre-order, it’s just up to them when they push the invites out (which will be the 5th).

While it indeed says that, the beta is only starting on the 5th. And nowhere, in your quote, does it say that you can already install it.

Kinda wish they'd change her design again. Let her have long flowing hair again instead of the Elsa hairdo.

I agree that as it starts on the 5th it's unlikely you'd be able to install it before then as no doubt they're still working on the build, however, the post read to me that I'd be able to see that my account has been flagged and it'd show in my list of games already. As I said, I may have read it out of context but that why I was asking here, to check if there is an issue with mine or if everyone else is also in the same boat

It's kind of weird how characters just wear the same outfits all the time ... I wish Jaina would have variants. Like casual vs battle vs whatever.

Either way the MCU comparison just how goldfish-memory most people are.

"MCU-style" moments have been happening in movies since the 1950s at the latest, and TV since what, the 1970s? The MCU's entire deal is basically just a re-iteration of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, which itself brought forwards a lot of 1970s stuff. However one feels about Joss Whedon, he profoundly influenced TV and movies about superpowered characters.

And thankfully even with the all the complaining about dialogue in WoW, there's no real "talking like Whedon/MCU characters". Hilariously WoW's dialogue is actually more naturalistic than that!

That's something even high-budget movies are still struggling with, and high-budget single-player games also do. Still I do agree. I feel like it's something that, once enough games do it, others will have to follow suit.
    "A youtuber said so."

"... some wow experts being interviewed..."

    "According to researchers from Wowhead..."

Soridormi has that. She has her casual yellow gown, and her battle gear she uses during the time rifts.

The fandom is dumb. Welcome to 2007. Earlier, really. The official forums in 2004 had unironic threads in the Suggestions section asking for real life guns like "deagles, that'd be so cool."

I do think Vol'jin died too soon and doing fucking nothing but otherwise.

  17. #70357
Khadgar's among my favorite characters but I don't mind him dying. That said, I agree that I doubt he's actually dead, at least as of yet. Will need to see precisely what occurs in the opening, though, that can of course change things.

  18. #70358
Pretty sure it has already been spoiled through datamining that Khadgar is not dead as he is MIA.

Confusingly, i actually did get the option to download the beta a week ago. Which is kind of useless currently.
