That is something i noticed in the trailer. Thrall has connection to 3 elements, fire, water and earth, but no air. And his story in TWW seems very much focused on the storm raiders and thus, the element of air. Might be a hint at why he struggles. But i can't say what that hint is pointing at.

It's funny that "Disneyfication" is on the docket as a common talking point because even they managed to approach the angle of an ambitious entrepreneur character goal back in fucking 2009.

I mean, it bombed, mostly because 2D animation, but it still wasn't this blandness.

An artificer can apply to many races:

Gnomes and goblins for obvious reasons

Draenei and lightforged with crystals and light technology

    Blood elves with animus technology?

May be they could add tinker during an expansion but as a seasonal event
    Like Plunderstorm and Remix

Imagine for a month, you can play a tinker in a beta version
You won't keep the character not do mythic plus or ranked pvp.. But at least Blizzard and player can test a new class, allow something new. And then do the same for other class

I honestly don't get the Xal'atath obsession. There is no depth there. I guess it is just the voice acting together with them making her an elf?

What's this? Next you're going to tell me you don't get the Azshara obsession.

Wouldn't really make sense. Holidays are always understood to be recurring yearly events. A visage form holiday would only make sense for Dracthyr, it to mention how it seems to be more skin to a birthday than a specific date each year.

Best bet is still a Pride Month holiday that got scrapped or moved back to 2025. It's a global event. It's easy to convert into an Azeroth equivalent. And the date it should have show up fits.

The thing is, it is described as a holiday event for dragons.

The key takeaway from the dialogue is that Earthen are essentially rocky Goblins/Gnomes.

Sad that Hero Talents are so unambitious. They could be used down the line to add many flavours of engineering-themed subspecs for existing classes.

There's plenty to be said for the benefits of either. That said, if we do get tinkers, I'm going to hazard a guess it would be in TLT and they'd have an overt Titan-tech theme (i.e. effectively strike a balance between the contrasting artificer/tinker themes) added to tie them into the expansion and achieve the aforementioned effect of making them easier to take seriously.
Eh, its not really a debate, just wishful thinking by posters who don't want a Goblin/Gnome based class.

If we look at the history of expansion classes, they're all based on Warcraft franchise characters, and all had abilities that first appeared in RTS/MOBAs. Gazlowe is a franchise character, and we have Tinker abilities from WC3/HotS. Some of those abilities are already translated into WoW, and we already have Earthen being shown with a variation of the claw pack. It's rather clear what concept the tech class is going to be based on.

And yes, Mimiron fits rather well for both Goblin/Gnome tech, and TLT. He's even been called a "Tinker" in game.

I personally don't like that they made her an elf, but from what i've seen its 90% because she is a sexy elf mommy.
She's a good villain in a sense that she achieves what the jailer didn't. She has some backstory that ties her into a lot of major events and characters without completely rewriting fan favourite lore and character motivation.

Might be a long shot because its thrall we are talking about, but his scene reminded me a lot of harbringers - guldan. Like guldan heard kiljaeden in the absence of elements maybe thrall will hear xalatath/the void.

"The loneliness you pretend not to feel" WTF is this coming from? You're married. You have a husband and a son and can have even more children, and you are a beloved hero of your community.

    Trailer art direction is off.

Wish the trailer/cinematic soundtracks would go back to using melodic music like what is in the actual game rather than hollywood trailer *thump*
Well, tbf we also don't have 4k ingame assets yet, only cataclysm has the option (and I'm actually not sure if it's already available or was a beta only thing?).

The word artificer originates from the Silmarillion, in the form of an elf exclusive magic. So the elf basis is already there.

I suppose, if its a hero class, they might give it an extremely limited race selection, but I hope they don't. Tinker has a specific racial connotation but Artificer takes that idea & makes it more general. Given the fantasy lore basis for the artificer, it makes sense for them to show up in the elf expansion.

Don't say "That's Tolkien, not WoW" as if western fantasy's inspiration from lord of the rings isn't inseparable.

For me, the thematic difference between a gnome/goblin tinker and a draenei artificer could just be resolved with mogs and some limited class customization. DF has given many classes customization options, I just don't see why an Artificer class couldn't have the same choice. Does there need to be a mechanical difference between a Lightforged Draenei and a Gnome in a mech? Heck you could use existing professions to give them a way to collect those class options; obviously through engineering but possibly with reagents from JC (for Draenei looks), BS (Orc?) and Alch (Forsaken).

Perhaps. Thrall was Allerias counter part in the Visons of N'zoth, both falling to the void. Perhaps TWW will make the Visions come true. Other characters in the visions that seem to get more of a spotlight: Geya'rah and Umbric.

No it doesn't. It's a 1300s word that was in common use in English up into the 1900s. Why are you saying Tolkien made it up? I'd be surprised if he was even the first person to use it in a fantasy context, given people like Lord Dunsany and REH.

Tolkien isn't the sole source of all Western fantasy, don't give me that, I can argue to the death on it, though if you want that we should do it in a different thread. People who see Tolkien as the sole origin point of all Western fantasy are simply ignorant. As are people who think he's the main influence on Warcraft. He's not even close. D&D and Warhammer are the main influences, with large chunks of other factors, like 1990s superhero comics. D&D and Warhammer are themselves both significantly influenced by Tolkien, but he's only like 20% of the picture, because other authors, most forgotten now, were also huge, huge influences on both - particularly Michael Moorcock. Hell Warhammer would be completely different without Moorcock - so would an awful lot of metal music.

The biggest influence LotR had absolutely wasn't what fantasy was about, but how it was presented - changing from short stories with variable amounts of worldbuilding, to increasingly huge serial novels with extensive, sometimes ridiculous, worldbuilding.
