Wonder when we’ll see what the renown rewards are.
Hope we can get Speaker Brinthe’s backpack thing - there was an icon datamined for it a while back but still no model attached to it.

Thx for info I'm checking it now.

Rejoice people, quest rewards are definitely retroactive. For example, I did 4xcovenant campaign on my plate and cloth have all 9/9 sets.

Legacy professions are disappointment. Checked if they merged Gnomish/Goblin engineering so I can delete it on 1 char - nope, checked if I can buy recipe on alt from legacy reputations - nope.

The sunshafts are a bit more questionable, though that might be for technical reasons. The whole seamless transition thing doesn't always work properly for Zaralek, sometimes i just get stuck and have to relog to unstuck.

Having enterable sunshafts would create an artistic challenge for the environment artists sculpting the surface above. It's hard to make a lot of potholes in the ground look nice.

Imagine if there were sunshafts in the Zaralek Cavern ceiling that you could fly through to the Plains above:

But WoW's art team is up to the challenge. I'd love to see how they could make that look good. Maybe disguise the sunshaft entrances not as potholes in the ground, but as many wind caves in a mountain. That would look a lot more natural.

Now that I think about it, it would be pretty easy to make enterable sunshaft sinkholes look good from the surface. Make them look like that humongous sinkhole in China, where the cave entrance is hidden from most views by canyons and dense foilage and fog. So players flying overhead usually won't be looking at holes down into the black abyss everywhere.

I think the biggest issue is with how the Underground zones are actually designed, which makes having just small holes to fly through not very feasible in regards to how the underground zones actually work.

What do you mean? I haven't played the alpha. Are the zones so tall that if you flew down through the ceiling, you would spend 30 seconds doing nothing before you finally reached the floor where the content is? From the screenshots I've seen on the website, the zones look very tall.

No, that's not what i meant. They use a smiliar/the same technology that's used for Zaralek caverns because wow doesn't actually support one zone being "under" another zone. That's why for example why the tunnel to Zaralek Caverns is so long.

Flew around new zones and really dig overall design. Looks like it could be more convenient than Dragon Isles which already felt really open.

Comparison wise, what are we talking in regards to zone size? Are they similar in size to the Dragon Isles or noticeably smaller? If so, Shadowlands size or bigger? Somewhere in between? Which zone is the biggest and which is the smallest? Are they well populated or are they pretty lifeless like the Dragon Isles?

Are the underground zones actually on top of each other? The continent maps shows all of them adjacent to each other.

The Underground maps aren't, but the Isle of Dorn is (of course) "on top" of them

    Character copy is up, lovely!

Also can I say, non-winged quadrupeds like basic horses with skyriding look weird as fuck. As expected, it looks best when your mount has wings.

Well they do look better than their pre-Skyriding "running through air" animation.

Never liked the non winged mounts that just run in air.

Alleria and Khadgar are the leveling realms, once your character is ready to go, talk to the giant Tauren in SW or Org.
The other realm is made for dungeon/raid/pvp testing.

I have to say, I am really enjoying Dagran. Wish they had used him instead of Brann for the delves but I guess (and as I was saying earlier) Brann is very much one of those "neutral" Alliance characters the Horde is resigned to working with.

Maybe he could be planned for later, since there's supposed to be a different companion for each season. Don't know if they would want to have two of them be the same race in the same expansion, though.

Nah I don't expect we'll see him. I would like a Horde character next and maybe a neutral for the third season (maybe a nerubian). Then if there is a fated season, let us choose from all three. Though I still hope they find a way to let you do these things with alts.

Season 1 would have been the season to do a Nerubian. They’ll likely shrink in terms of importance after this patch. Similar to why we didn’t have Nightborne invading Argus with us.

    Season 1 - Brann
    Season 2 - Gazlowe
Season 3 - Harronir I imagine if Rootlands is the final patch zone.

That would work too. And yeah Gazlowe is the obvious second pick so the Horde gets a turn.

Playing the expansion and going back to the idea of Horde being included, there is no reason why Jaina is so front and center. They could have used a different Dalaran character that would be a better balance. heck use Aethas he is already there.

Aethas would have also continued smoothly into Midnight.

The seamless transition in Zaralek usually has a boulder/wall at the end of the tunnel going in for me. And it takes about a second for it to despawn. It actually slows me down if it collide with it, so it's a physical asset that doesn't despawn/phase out in quick enough, it would seem.
