Who gives a flip if it’s a ‘battle pass’, it’s an effective engagement strategy. Play and you’re rewarded, it’s simple. Literally no different than legion mage tower, or MoP challenge modes, they’ve been doing this for years, and it’s ok!

The better equivalent is Dailies, IMO. Do enough of something, day after day, and you get rewarded. It's not skill based as much as it is "completion" based.

As multiple people here (me included) have already told you - they fulfill the same role as the titans used to in the overall narrative structure, only on a grander scale (bc the scale of the story has grown).

If that role is "they are mysterious supreme beings we know nothing of", then sure.

Other than that however? They're different.

Well yeah no, you never got seasonal good looking rewards for doing dailies. Which is the basic premise of a battlepass - you get cool rewards for being loyal and playing the game during season X.

I think most people will associate a battle pass, ie the fortnite battle pass, a paid feature, with payment. But other than that, yes its otherwise like a battle pass.

Truu, but it's an OCD friendly version of showing me the rewards unlike the current pvp system. Also it's not tied to difficulty which is good if you want to cater to casuals instead of us 1% players.

Instead it's 99% chance just being de-railed into shadowlands is actually good by the same people again and again and again.

Yee, it's what SWTOR has now too (although they never really were about skill based pvp rewards from what I remember).

Tbh, the best of both worlds would be rating based rewards for the current expansion (so elite sets and gladiator mounts) while viscious mounts, pets, tabards, enchants aswell as elite and gladiator rewards from past expansion should be farmable via the seasonal renown. Make it so that you can get past stuff but never catch up, this rewarding people who actually play the current season still (also, you would still play the current season if you want to get past rewards anyways, thus increasing pvp participation in generel).

I see. Deserved. First Ones suck and are just Titans 2.0. They should never have pulled the veil back on Titans.

First Ones are them basically putting the veil back on, just on different entities. It wasn't done very well, but I can at least understand the urge. They should have been built up more over time rather than hitting us with the whole Titans 2.0 3D printing Gods shenanigans.

No. That's a silly argument. This is simply a secondary renown track. Nothing more.

Wrong, again. This is simply a progression bar. Something WoW had since forever. Reputations, Experience points. Battlepasses are a paid for progression bar. While all battlepasses are progression bars, not all progression bars are battlepasses.

I guess I just reached the point of the people who called every console "a Nintendo", for me every seasonal reward track is a battlepass. I just don't care that it's offensive to Fortnite players or whatever. It's an easier word than "seasonal reward track" and as soon as I stop caring about justfying myself my life will be so much easier, because despite the arguing people get what we mean, just like we eye-rollingly understood what people mean when they called the Playstation "a Nintendo".

Except. It is not a battlepass. The term battlepass was first coined with Fortnite, for a specifically, PAID reward track. unpaid seasonal reward tracks. Like those in GW2, are older then the paid for battlepass system.

Well I never played fortnite, I only know them from SWTOR/Hearthstone/Overwatch/Diablo.
