Wotlk? John Hight joined Blizzard years after wotlk was finished. Honestly I have slim idea what he was and wasn't responsible for, all I remember is lack of charisma on stage compared to Metzen, Afra*bi or Ion. But I don't see people tearing up over his decision, literally one guy in this thread is upset.
Finally got in the beta. Mainly to check Hero Talents and the Warband system.
Hero Talents are... meh. Visually, we will not notice most of them, there are some exceptions, but unless the cool effects are still yet to be implemented, they are barely noticeable. Most of them are passive, which is good, and I guess that while leveling it would be easier to get used to them, because in beta getting all of them at once seemed like I was not interacting with them at all, like, I did not know what was happening. Of what I am sure is that they are going to be a VERY important power boost for our characters. Some of them make mandatory that you pick some ''normal'' talents for your spec (for example, Bladestorm for Slayer Fury Warriors), which I do not know how to feel about.
Overall, I think that they are spending such a big effort for something difficult to balance, which we will probably forget about a month into the expansion, as we will get used to them pretty quickly and they are not very noticeable. I do not think that they are going to break the game or anything major, but as they are now, they are a mistake IMO. They could have been so much cooler if they just focused in making cosmetic stuff for our skills.
The Warband system is a letdown as it is right now. It has a lot of benefits, but for players like me that focus mainly on one character, it is not good enough to spend time in other characters. I was dissapointed to see so many achievements that still are not account-wide (for example, if I kill 20 players in a BG without dying, do I really need to do that again in another character? Who cares? I got the achievement, just make it account-wide, especially all the PvP and Dungeon and Raids related achievements).
Do not get me wrong, I am VERY hyped for TWW, but these two systems in particular are but a shadow of what they could have been. Hope that Delves do better, which honestly is the system that I am looking forward the most.
Do not take life too seriously. You will never get out of it alive.
All I ever wanted was the truth. Remember those words as you read the ones that follow. I never set out to topple my father's kingdom of lies from a sense of misplaced pride. I never wanted to bleed the species to its marrow, reaving half the galaxy clean of human life in this bitter crusade. I never desired any of this, though I know the reasons for which it must be done. But all I ever wanted was the truth.
I am positive about Delves but their impact is yet to be seen. The impact of Hero Talents, as they are now, is going to be very small after the first month of the expansion, could even be negative, as many people may not enjoy them and be happy with how their class works ATM.
I agree with your opinion about professions, and I think that what happened with them is exactly what will happen with Hero Talents. Fun for a while and then completely forgotten.
I completely disagree with your take on Evokers, though. I am actually surprised about how many I have seen since day one of DF. Like, A LOT. Could be a thing limited to Spanish realms, but I doubt it.
Dragonflying is a super important and successful feature, and of course The Trading Post, without a doubt the most important feature added to WoW since Mythic +.
As it is now, it is a fact that TWW has less features than DF, and less impactful. But if Delves work well, and the evergreen Brawler's Guild which will come, plus, hopefully, a revamp of the Timewalking system, or whatever surprise they might have for us, I am positive about what TWW have in store.
I am confident that TWW's patches will be better than DF.

You're thinking of when spirit caused the elemental lords to come to life, but that's not "becoming flesh" because the elemental lords aren't made of flesh. This isn't even a thing because we know Tyr has a soul because he could be resurrected. The Earthen have souls, they have ancestor spirits when in the Farseer hero talent tree.
If Delves are rewarding then their addition should be pretty substantial.
I just hope that their gameplay will become more varied as they said, as besides the first one you get to do on IoD, the couple others i did were almost identical.

Hero talents really feel like they needed something to call a feature for marketing. Almost all of them could have been put into the normal talent tree and it wouldn't make a difference. Put black arrow in the bm tree and you feel just like the dark ranger with 11 points spend in the hero tree.

Always liked the WotLK lore that the "Curse of Flesh" was just Old God propaganda, and actually a normal development for the "seed races", becoming more "of the planet" with emotional ties, turning into better protectors of the Wordsoul than the robotic Titanforged.
But your duty to Azeroth is not yet complete. More is demanded of you... a price the living cannot pay.
when beta started and ppl asked about the addon and his response was "im not going to because its pointless" his mods were saying "anyone who complains should be grateful because they provide it for free" then when the fix towellie showed was being shared he refused to let it be linked because "its not an official fix" then "its an addon to fix other addons thats stupid"

What grinds my gears is that sometimes these Hero Talents force less customization. At least for Elemental Shaman, if you pick Far Seer then you have to pick the "fire build" talents, and if you pick Stormbringer, you have to pick the "storm build" talents. I will never understand why these were not just cosmetic options, so players could continue to pick the talents they want.
