If a player’s only incentive to check out an expansion is a race, they’re probably not going to stick around that long anyways. Races typically have a pretty minimal impact on gameplay, at most offering a single new button press.

Ok if you think so. I for sure like to level alts of different race/class combos because for me, that feels different enough as I don't need gameplay changes, just cosmetical ones. It's basically like playing with skins in a moba.

A bit too on the nose as far as showing how different from a normal dwarf Dagran is, but definitely a good read.
Can't wait to see more from Dagran. Can't imagine he will be important in Midnight, but going back to Ulduar in TLT should give some good opportunities for his character to really blossom into a leader, assuming that doesn't happen in TWW.

My favorite short story so far is still the Anduin one though. I really felt for Anduin and his internal struggle to call upon the light shen it was most needed.

Was a good story, but detroyed my hopes dagran will turn out like his famous ancestors one day.

Well, hope we got new build today, because race/class discussions with Mr T tend to last many pages. :v

I don't think we will get one today. They pushed back the warband conversion testing to today so they probably concentrate on this first. It would be nice if we get both though

A new race can bring a retired player back into the game, or bring new players to the game who might give WoW a try since said new race is now available. I'm also sure there's plenty of retired WoW players who will give WoW another spin once they introduce hotly desired races like Ogres, Arakkoas, and/or Naga.

The real problem here is that the term "allied race" immediately conjures up memories of BFA where 10 Allied Races were eventually available. Having only one known AR in TWW and that being the main feature of the new expansion is pathetic, no matter how much you try to spin it.

Tww feels more like a big patch. The expansion has a wod 2.0 vibe

except everything is testable on the beta and we have 0 hints of content removal
we have content that stays relevant outside of raids
we have rep gained in ways beyond 1 daily and a huge grind
we have more than 4 different types of mounts with 20 skins

yeah i mean this might be true but it's also not really reflected in BFA when they added a shit ton of allied races. theres a discussion to be had of making completely new non-variant races as an allied race, sure, but that's never really been a thing for allied races. historically they've all been variants of existing races.

and as for new races, things like pandaren and dracthyr doesn't seem to have captivated people either. so it's kinda just speculation to assume a brand new race like the ones you listed would bring people back

TBF, BFA also had Kul'tirans and Zandalari, two highly requested new races. It also featured Kul'tiras, a place that players have wanted to venture to for years.

yeah thats sorta my point, right. i dont think we saw any substantial growth after they added those races in BFA (atleast according to that sub graph + subsequent analysis). Im not against them experimenting and adding completely new races, i just dont view it as a surefire success, if that makes sense

Never seen any real requests for Kul'tirans. In contrary, I saw many peeps being off-put by how they looked and that they were basically bulky humans with no real variation.

Harronir are all but confirmed. They’ve got a myriad of customization options, moreso than any non-playable race that’s been introduced. Plus why else would they show them off in the announcement trailer alongside the playable Earthen?

totally agreed, and i dont necessarily think they've done that either. If the harronir end up being a playable race (which is likely imo) I think thats a pretty good stab at a new-ish race. assuming the datamined customizations are accurate they do have a lot of unique 3d assets on them, unlike say zandalari trolls vs regular trolls which just have a bulkier frame, and essentially some new tattoos

I did because of Pandaren (I had quit after WoltK). My Pandaren was my main until the Evoker class.

Interesting, because it wasn't listed as a feature in any of TWW's trailers. Even Blizzard knows that announcing that as a feature is scraping the bottom of the barrel.

All-but confirmed still means NOT confirmed. I remember when Tuskarr were all but confirmed, and we never got them.

2 new ARs would be better than the one we're currently receiving.
