I'm not sure on that. Back at Blizzcon the focus was on the earthen, arathi and nerubians. Not a single word of the harronir. We only know about them through datamining at first and later in the beta. I don't think they were planned as a day 1 thing, but something for the patches. Yet being so central in the cinematic contradicts that a bit. Would be the first time blizzard puts something planned for the patches in the cinematic. Thats like putting Amridrassil or Aberrus stuff into the DF Cinematics, or Naz'jatar into the BfA cinematic.

The cinematic is good, but i feel like it lost some of the impact it would've had thanks to the release-date-announcement cinematic.

They should've skipped that one and kept the dialogue and World Soul for this cinematic release.

Also yet another WoW cinematic with a forgettable score. Nothing like the greats like Xaxas, Why Do We Fight, and Times Change.

Yeah, "nostalgia" part of date reveal cinematic was way too long, it felt like annoucement of console version or something like that. Few second on the beginning to remind us it's Warcraft and this full trailer would be better, especially since last shot with Azj'Kahet is awesome.

I actually though the Horronir dancing was weird ( not in a good way) and the faces looked stupid. Idk how this sparks interest but what ever.

i still think the cinematic is fine. i'm just surprise by the comments, and i'm usually the doomposter

This is just like the DF pre-launch cinematic that we got. High quality but pointless. It is so difficult to have BfA's cinematics style where the story was actually developed a bit? I do not get why they put so much effort in a totally forgettable work.

Could be an attempt to replicate the Vanilla and TBC styled cinematic as to advertise a pastiche of the aesthetics you are going to see in the expansion. Fire dwarves, Erebor forge zone, knights, underground picturesque zone that looks like a Thomas Kinkade or an 1800s Romanticism painting, spider, hanging city, and... whatever the dancing troll was supposed to. Maybe a patch zone will have glowing, moving roots.

The music is certainly an important part. Can't replicate anything without good music.

Hey guys, its an extra one. We used to only get one. BFA being the exception. They've only been doing 2 since I think SL.
I will not reply to posts that are non-constructive or contain flaming and/or trolling.

I can already see the announcement video "and so we made something never seen before ... glowing roots, but they move!".

Jokes aside, lets walk on the water of reality again. I actually enjoyed the Harronir in the video, but the Shadowlands and Dragonflight ones were better both music and scene wise. I wasn't a huge fan of the BFA cinematics (simply because I prefer the game HD cinematic style over the hyper realistic ones), but it does feel indeed like a tiny bit of waste of ressources to go back to the totally lore-unrelated stuff like in classic/tbc.

All 3 (SL, DF, TWW) are pretty consistent - no story, showing villain, showing world. Essentially it's promo material, not part of plot like reveal cinematic.

But I understand people who would rather see limited resources of CGI team put into next Old Soldier.

They should go back to do the whole cinematic for the reveal, viewer numbers are showing that revealing the expansion with an almost unrelated dialogue with no action is not making the expansion any favors. This one makes you at least more excited for the new expansion content, but is still leagues behind past expansion reveals.

It makes far more sense for them to have been set up as patch content from the start. We knew all the launch zones as soon as the expansion was revealed at Blizzcon, I doubt that it was already cut and all this marketing was already set in stone all the way back then.

They're probably just teasing them now rather than introducing them out of nowhere in 11.1 or 11.2. Seems like a good approach, since people are already looking forward to meeting them, and hopefully playing as them.

There is no "cut zone" and Harronir were always obviously gonna end up as leading into patch content lol. Stop the doomsaying, we aren't living in BFA times anymore.

Especially as we know they are in the initial zones but prolly hidden (as they have a camp with I think no npc's rn on beta) - they said in recent interviews that Dalaran isn't the only thing they kept out of Beta.

Yeah I do not think that the Harronir zone is cut content. They probably have for the first time a very clear layout of the patches for each expansion, at least zone-wise, for all the WSS.

I think that TWW's patches (small and big ones) will be significantly better than DF, which already were the best patch cycle in the game history.

Honestly cannot wait to see how they keep adding to, evolving and improving the game. I love the little improvements like the new map icons. It makes the game so much better IMO, even if they might seem like minor stuff.

BTW, I bet that we will get a new spec in TWW for some class, and clearly more Allied races, at the very least the Harronir.

    Exciting times ahead.

The cinematic felt like cuts from a couple of potential cinematics, focused around these characters. Maybe we'll get one per week leading up to the expac like the Warbringers animations...speaking of which, are we getting those this time around?

  19. #74319
just noticed: the cinematic is branded as "official cinematic" of the expansion. lol that's lame

That's because Avatar is the generic cashgrab (no matter the budget) appropriating aesthetics. It's like saying WoW looks like Raid Shadow Legends.

But your duty to Azeroth is not yet complete. More is demanded of you... a price the living cannot pay.
