We have seen the same naming convention in DF
like this
inv_axe_1h_emeralddreamraid_d_01
this is obviously a fire themed weapon, but it was still named emeralddreamraid and not fireraid or something else.

Hm... interesting. This is the first login screen that does not depict a landscape scene. Well. I am not ideologically opposed to a non-landscape screen like this, but this doesn't look very cool. I kinda like the border trim with the jewels, but not too into the magma in the middle. It's nothing to look at.

Given that the selling point of the expansion is the underground, I was expecting it to depict an underground landscape. The dwarf city is just generic and doesn't sell the expansion, and would be too much like the Valdrakken login screen.

"You only see the login screen for 10 seconds!" is not an excuse. You're paying at least $205 per year to play this game. You should be getting nothing less than pristine quality, and yet we have allowed Blizzard to put in less and less effort over the years. It started with the degradation of the Loginscreen music, and now it is the art itself. Remember when people used to say "well, at the least art is still good"? Now we won't even be able to claim that.
The loginscreen should show a glimpse of an underground vista you want to visit, like the Beledar crystal or a hanging Nerubian city, like how the MoP loginscreen tantalized you with Mogu'Shan palace in the back.

Login screen really looks like it would change with time/patches.
Sometimes, the light of the moon is a key to other spaces. I've found a place where, for a night or two, the streets curve in unfamiliar ways. If I walk here, I might find insight, or I might be touched by madness.
The login screen reminds me of the hearthstone login. Once loged in, it opens up?
But honestly, who in this time and age sees the login screen for more then a second? You log via the battle.net app, and then go nearly instantly to the character selection. It makes kind of sense to no longer emphasize the login screen.
Bunch of mounts finally got a source on the beta btw, so we only have 30 PH mounts aswell as the gladiator mount recolour (which will prolly be season 2 or 4 .... I sincerely hope they don't give us two gladiator models again with TWW like with DF, recolours *are* enough ...) to dish out.

Ethereal raid in The War Within ... does that make playable Ethereals more or less likely in Midnight.
I was thinking the same thing. It's set up in a way that really invites progressive changes over time.
That being said, I don't really care too much about login screens these days. We usually only see them for a few seconds. What I actually would like to see is the return of redoing old zone loading screens with new expansions. I think they stopped doing that around cata/mop? We're really due for new ones.
Honestly with Ethereals probably not the side content for Midnight I am now increasingly hoping for a full Lordaeron expac. if Midnight release with Quel'thalas plus Eastweald (Plaguelands) then the rest can be patch content. The link could be e.g. Calia.

I think Ethereals will bridge into Midnight was well. They'll probably serve as a corrupted Alleria's army for assaulting the Sunwell
Despite fan desires, I don’t believe we’re getting playable Ethereals in Midnight. I have a feeling that Midnight will be like Shadowlands, without a new race or class.
If we do get a new race, it’ll likely be Nerubians, since Blizzard kind of hinted towards them in a recent interview.
I didn't love the stray away from the standard logos, and I don't love the stray away from the standard logins. It may be temporary or changing as we only see an image, but I think this takes away more than they think.
Although Hallowfall and the Arathi aren't exactly the focus of the expansion, I think the imagery of the Beledar and Mereldar both show off the depth of these zones and the flirtation with the void.
I mocked this up as an idea.
Reveal that Locus Walker is Dimensius at the end of TWW and that this entire time he has been moulding Alleria for this is my bet.
