The soontm thing makes me think it's going to be a little further off than that. It could be a preview of Midnight's shorts, or even an actual animated series.

Edit: Perhaps its some sort of timey wimey thing to promote the anniversary event? There's orcs in the short, and that doesn't make sense on any temporal level.

It is a scene depicting WC2, were the Amani Trolls and Orcs attacked Silvermoon. The only anachronistic bit is Lor'themars outfit, but that could be a retcon that he always dressed like that.

Ngl it's great to see Alleria and Sylvanas in action together, having only read about it in ToD novel. I'm hoping that Khadgar, Kurdran, Orgrim, and Zul'jin will also be in the short, since they all participated in this event.

Screenshots from Wowhead to see the key frames better

BLUE roofs on the spires! There is no real "main color" among the elves. Lor'themar uses his current look.

    Alleria slapping that bow

That's Sylvanas. Vereesa would have shorter hair. And that pissed look just fits Sylvanas.

Maybe the Blood Elves picked red because of Lorthemar

We may be getting some sort of new lore, because the old Horde actually marching on quelthalas is never mentioned until chronicles 1. Before that we only knew the Amani were hired to help them attack lordaeron. I suppose them also attacking silvermoon for the Amani would have been quid pro quo

Still shocked we finally have a reason to give Vanessa some characterization & she's just gone.

There is a whole chapter about this event in the novel Tides of Darkness. Lothar sends Khadgar and Alleria from Hinterlands to intercept the Horde marching towards Quel'Thalas. The same event is described in Sylvanas recent novel, but from her point of view. The Horde burned the forests of Quel'Thalas with the help of enslaved red dragons.

I imagine the canonical reason for the blue spires is due to the fact that they're in the Alliance of Lordaeron, so they recolored parts of the city to reflect that. Though, based off other implications, it's possible that the city was always blue? Or turned red after the second war? Cause everything in modern art for WC3 shows the city with the red colored buildings.

They were intercepting the horde on their way to *Lordaeron.* And the Sylvanas book came out after Chronicles 1.

Regardless of the real reason, swapping up animation styles for the shorts is a great twist and I think is emblematic of what they are trying to do with TWW.

Also there's no way they were going to animate nerubians like this. Too much of a pain.

I'll be more than happy with a short video tbh but if this is something else, I'm all for it! Very hype for this.

The 11th mission of the Horde side of war2 is the Horde marching on Quel'thalas (https://warcraft.wiki.gg/wiki/The_De...alls_(WC2_Orc))

All I ever wanted was the truth. Remember those words as you read the ones that follow. I never set out to topple my father's kingdom of lies from a sense of misplaced pride. I never wanted to bleed the species to its marrow, reaving half the galaxy clean of human life in this bitter crusade. I never desired any of this, though I know the reasons for which it must be done. But all I ever wanted was the truth.

    Why are the orcs Brown?
When you are accustomed to privilege, equality feels like injustice.

...Gonna lay it down for ya here.

It is possible not every Orc drank the blood of Mannoroth, and it's also possible the fel effects on Draenor didn't effect every orcs skin.

Hell, funny enough, the non-canon Warcraft movie touches on this idea

Orgrim had no intention of invading Quel'Thalas at first, but he made a deal with Zul'jin to destroy the kingdom of high elves. And since Amani bolstered the Horde's ranks and provided them with their expertise of this unfamiliar land, Orgrim at least tried to fulfill his end of the deal. Eventually he grew disinterested with the siege of Silvermoon, seeing its futility to the Horde, and withdrew the majority of his army to march towards Lordaeron.

I also wonder if red dragons' involvement in the burning of Quel'Thalas will be retconned since we see fire catapults instead? DF has already low-key retconned this problematic dragon enslavement plot.
