This is a good point too. Earthens going inert or shutting down has been shown in different ways than just allowing the forest to take over them.
Plus the flowing water on their staff is interesting to me. It could very well be nothing, but I think it's an interesting piece of worldbuilding that begs to be questioned further.

Now datamined, sylvanas set for 850 tenders, im quite surprised that they didn't save it to sell as shop item, i bet there will be something new on the store around that time but yeah, i think it's pretty cool that we won't have to pay for that.
Plus the shop lo'gosh set and blue one datamined for 850 each and sword.
Even as not the biggest sylvanas fan, it's a really nice set mog, hopefully there will be more armor sets in the future that are based on azeroth heroes, it's usually the only thing i buy in other mmos i play.
Pretty sure they know of them, but if anything the harronir are influenced by them. The ingame book tells us that the harronir arrived much later than freya. I think the harronir learned how to protect the roots from the freysworn.
The woldclaimed freysworn are most likely just dead ones. They seem to be in opposition to the titans and probably chose to power down somewhere in nature. This way they don't return to the titan machines and keep their memories for themselves which is very much in line with the philosophy the freysworn and harronir share.
I just don't know yet how the thraegar fit into all of this. They also seem to be connected to the rootlands and azeroth, but there is so little information about them.
Given it is rep commendations I assume Timewalking Badges?

Well the changes for the raid seem to be active in the PTR but the timewalking versions of the dungeons don't seem to have proper loot tables or any changes to the bosses. Still think they will look like crap compared to anything modern.
They probably could get reactivated. That is afterall what the giant machine the Earthen Spawn from does. The issue is keeping the personalities inherent to the bodies, which is the part that degrades and is irreplaceable.
The life cycle of the Earthen used to be that they would eventually go into the machine whose name escapes me, and have their bodies revitalized, and their memories wiped so they would be ready to perform their duties again. However this did in effect kill the Earthen.
The world revamp dream will never die!
You could probably fix and reactivate any Earthen that doesn't have their memory gem shattered. But yeah, there's the problem of them losing their memories and identity.
Though i imagine with the proper knowledge and tools it would be perfectly possible to give them more storage space and recharge them without wiping the memory.
Well, in that case. You're right but you looked at the wrong NPC's.
These are the fellas in question who you were meant to be asking about
https://www.wowhead.com/npc=219334/freysworn-arborist
As said above, they're using the Druid Cataclysm Arena set attire, they used Druid magic in the first stages of the Beta but it was changed to Shaman magic so it wont give any false hope about Earthern Druids and if you interact with them they tell you they're practising Druid magic. And an Arborist is someone who diagnoses a tree's health.
I think the conclusions are there for everyone to see

The Freysworn were clearly designed as Druids and there is some secret lore in Khaz Algar about there being an underlying Life force, which is PROBABLY Elun'ahir and they are being coy for the many players who aren't keeping up to date on hardcore lore. Hence why Haranir aren't getting a big focus at launch and the Freysworn stuff you have to look for.
I think that even if they retooled them to have shaman stuff at launch, they are clearly meant to be Freya/Life serving Earthen, and so they may get Druids when their lore is explored further. However they may keep them from getting druids so the Haranir, who clearly are druids and stated to be such, can be a little more special.
Okay but what's the pressing question? They're Earthen who follow the tenets of Eonar through Freya, and their conflict with the Oathsworn drawing from what we learned about what happed with Elunahir, which the Freysworn themselves explain to the player. They're entirely self-explanatory.I think its indicative of the devs flip-flopping on whether or not to eventually open up the non-hero classes to all races. We had multiple opportunities in dragonflight to do so already. Or, for example, why did Earthen Death Knights make it into Beta before they changed their minds? Or, again, for example, if you were going to forshadow & hint Earthen Druids why fix the one Earthen Druid in the one Rookery story scenario into a Shaman rather than just letting it be as it was.
We all know it takes a while to make all the assets required for these classes, but considering how many years (decades) they've been playing with the idea they had more than enough time to do so already.
On one hand, I'm glad Metzen's back because opening up Paladins, Druids & Shaman to all races would have been Ion's decision, and I don't think he was brave enough to make that decision on his own: On the other hand, there's a decent chance Metzen himself killed these prospective race/class combinations.

I'm quite sure they will make the "druids/paladins/shamans" for all classes as a big feature of one of the side patches, similiar to the anniversery theme of next patch. Alternatively it will happen when they bring back Class Halls as an expansion feature. But its clearly a ressource management thing, so I wouldn't be surprised if they worked on lets say paladin mounts in the background - the next patch basically has only 1 new mount while everything else are either recolours (the timewalking ones) or stuff that was already in the files (demonbikes) afterall.
Speaking about that, I still want a HD ashes of al'ar based on the event mount .... and maybe do a dark red / purple / green recolor aswell when they are already on that haha.
