I've never been really interested in housing as a feature but I'd be pretty happy if it allowed me to put some weapons or armour around the house, which I am guessing we will be able to do based off of the trailer they showed.

Me neither.. simply never understood the fun or function in it.
Betting on very limited amount of options and set places to put things. There is not much what you can do in your house I assume.. besides the obvious things we do in cities. I cant wait to get exalted and get a sofa from x reknown or what ever.. /sarcasme off.
We can be happy for people who asked for this.. I guess.
I see Player Housing as a "why not?" kind of thing. It's been asked for by the community for a long time, even way before WoD's pseudo-implementation of it with Garrisons.
Doesn't seem like anything that is attached to a player's power progression, nor any sort of forcible grind to become stronger. Something that can be purely cosmetic seems like a no brainer.
What I hope for is being able to control the design of your house, and the features around it. Features based on your race (racial aesthetics) and your class would be awesome.

Ye I tried to give it a positive spin for the people who like it, but ye I am very real about it and I expect the same thing with only a handfull of options. I also dont care for this feauture, so what ever they do with it, wouldnt effect me anyway. I just hope its not tied to a bunch of maincapaign or other system were we HAVE to use it. An optional thing would be ideal.

Because it will take a lot of work, for minimal content. Thats why its a surpising thing it happened anyway. Its not just a "why not" feauture. Because this is a huge project lol.
Sure, big project, a lot of time and resources needed to invest and develop. I get that.
And for something that the WoW community has been pining over for years and years? It's about time. I don't imagine any long term complications over implementing it, unless they somehow attach gear/power progression systems to it.
we have to remember that WoW has a very diverse player base. Features that appeal to one part, might be looked upon as a waste to other people.
Me for example, i dislike PvP in all its forms (Plunderstorm was the most tolerable, but after i got the rewards i have not looked back), i don't like raids, and while i'm fine with dungeons, i dislike M+ very much. Basically, anything that is competitive is a worthless waste of dev resources to me in a cooperative game. Delves i like, World Quests, Story, collecting transmogs. That stuff i enjoy. Though i started WoW as a roleplayer, i don't do it anymore, but would consider myself still in that section of the player base. And player housing is great for that part of the player base.

People thinking housing is not going to be a front for microtransactions PepeLaugh
I will not reply to posts that are non-constructive or contain flaming and/or trolling.

Most people have garrisons fresh in their mind as well, so even if I give them the benefit of the doubt, there is as well the feeling of.. oo great huge project, but we know blizz likes restrictions and set places for things like chairs or what ever. Many, including myself need convincing why I should care or how this is not the same crap as garrisons.
We have enough examples how blizz likes to repeat the same mistakes, so very, very skeptical. I agree with what you are saying.

Also this.

See, you couldn't be more wrong. Evergreen features like that keep people busy for years. Like, one of the main reasons why people do old raids nowadays is transmogs. It gives relevance to content which is otherwise "dead". This is the same thing; if you put in some new cosmetic rewards into old raids, people will run them again, and again, and again. That's "engagement" for low cost; which is the very opposite of surprising. Surprising is the fact they're doing it only now.

On reddit, someone noted that the symbol at the end of the roadmap resembles a symbol seen in WoD:
It is, though, somewhat different. It rotates in the opposite direction, and this one doesn't have that loop at the core like the roadmap symbol does.
Still, interesting.
A home, man. It's a feature that doesn't “serve” a purpose (because apparently some players can't see that everything doesn't have to be linked to the player's power in some way) apart from being an additional element of customization.
Customization is the most important part of any video game, and even more so in R(ole)P(laying)G(ame). But some people tend to forget these last letters.
And then there are the “perks” of owning a house, like an extra free TP at the location of your choice and little things like that.
