Taking long requested fan favourite races and turning them into half-way there abominations should not be what we want with our playable race roster. Mechagnomes and Drac'thyr are proof of this. The game frankly deserves better.

Suppose this also brings the discussion back to what it was in BfA though. Would it be better if racials and cosmetics were more streamlined across various races and Allied races.
Would it be better if when you made a human character, if you got the option of just having the Kul Tiran body type.? Or Gilnean voicelines? Do we strictly need so many different Dwarves when you could just make all the Dark Iron stuff a toggle for regular dwarves?
Might be a debate that needs to be considered if Blizzard ever does another customization overhaul like they did in WoD.
The world revamp dream will never die!
Well, that's the issue. Not everybody wants to be the cool uber-special snowflake who was pumped full of void juice. I don't think that really reflects the nerubian fantasy. The old nerubian fantasy was a race of intelligent, sinister spider-people skilled in architecture and engineering, and I'd prefer to embody that over making another superpowered cosmic hero that's associated with the purple flavor and looks vaguely like some kind of arthropod if you squint.

I think TLT as expansion is just perfect fit for playable vrykuls, it just makes sense to add them there.
Metzen was getting Mcdonalds today where I work. He was in a rush because he dropped a piece of paper that had "Magni Romance Patch" underlined.
Any ideas?

Want me to be really honest? I think the announcement IS gonna be console WoW, the more I think about it.
Classic and Modern...and a special announcement? I mean, think of it.
"To get new players into the world of Azeroth, both classic and modern, for the first time ever, we're bringing World of Warcraft to consoles. You can purchase it for the X-BOX Series X right after the direct"

The announcement for some will be "as hype as the creation of WoW itself", since they can finally play the game outside of the PC.
It's not the announcement I want, but it's the announcement I expect, especially since Blizzard's now owned by Microsoft, and I think there have been some console control support features added to WoW.
Remember scaleface's leaks? What if that was actually midnight?
I also remember seeing leaks that showcased blood elf zones, and I remember something about blizz doing a behind the scenes video and there were race icons on the monitor.. races we don't have yet, anyone remember any of that? What if it was there all along..
Yeah...it might just be console WoW. Which, if it is, good for the people that want it, but for a lot of other folks like myself...eh. Would be kinda underwhelming for a special announcement
I think that it'd be interseting to go the route of core race > sub race and allow open customziations. In this turn, racials that apply overall can be core race, and some of the more particular ones could possibly be lesser in value and labeled as cantrips.
Example:
There's obviously a lot of work to put into something like that along with what I'm sure is bound to be a decent amount of 20 year old engine spaghetti code to sort through if it is even possible, but I think it'd be an interesting way to keep racials but allow more fluid customization.Dwarf
Core Racials:
Stoneform, Dungeon Delver, Mass Production, Hyper Productive
Cantrips:
IF Dwarf: Explorer, Frost Resistance
DI Dwarf: Fireblood, Mole Machine
Earthen: Azerite Surge, Quiet Contemplation, Titan-Wrought Frame
Would I be wrong for feeling a bit underwhelmed if the announcement is console WoW?
It would be big. The biggest MMOs out there, which I think are FFXIV, TESO and New World, all have a console version. It is just a matter of time that Blizzard brings WoW to consoles, and the perfect moment is now, when we are starting a new saga, and when WoW has the chance to make some noise with its 20th anniversary.
That by itself would be important, but I understand that for PC players it would mean nothing. Hopefully is not just WoW on consoles, but a new version of WoW both for PC and consoles. That would be really something, especially if they take the right approach to this supposed new version.
Do not take life too seriously. You will never get out of it alive.
That's what I would like, cause I can't see people willingly looking at Retail's leveling zones, and going "yeah, I'd love to go through that in 2024"

I'm just saying, when I see something that says "the event is as big as the creation of WoW itself", console WoW would not be what comes to mind.
For others? Sure, that's big, but like you said, it's been done before so it wouldn't feel AS big, ya know?
