we have to remember that WoW has a very diverse player base. Features that appeal to one part, might be looked upon as a waste to other people.

Me for example, i dislike PvP in all its forms (Plunderstorm was the most tolerable, but after i got the rewards i have not looked back), i don't like raids, and while i'm fine with dungeons, i dislike M+ very much. Basically, anything that is competitive is a worthless waste of dev resources to me in a cooperative game. Delves i like, World Quests, Story, collecting transmogs. That stuff i enjoy. Though i started WoW as a roleplayer, i don't do it anymore, but would consider myself still in that section of the player base. And player housing is great for that part of the player base.

Idk if its about time perse, maybe for you. Its not a feauture that offers ton of content. Its niche for being such a big project. I guess its great for the ones who care.

I don't think you can genuinely make that argument, about it having enough content or not, until more information is revealed.

The scale which Blizzard decided to develop and implement it is yet to be seen.

Most people have garrisons fresh in their mind as well, so even if I give them the benefit of the doubt, there is as well the feeling of.. oo great huge project, but we know blizz likes restrictions and set places for things like chairs or what ever. Many, including myself need convincing why I should care or how this is not the same crap as garrisons.

We have enough examples how blizz likes to repeat the same mistakes, so very, very skeptical. I agree with what you are saying.

WoD is 10 year old. WoW is 20 years old. Calling Garrisons fresh, is quite a stretch

Its a time will tell what this exactly offers, but besides decoration I dont see much use in this. Its just a rp element, which sure fits in an mmorp. But outside that, Idk man. What would it offer, what we dont already have?

    I guess we will see.

    That's probably a given.

And it's the best idea for Player Housing they can do. In-game store for cosmetic only items/appearances/housing-related-bullshit? It'll be a gold mine.

See, you couldn't be more wrong. Evergreen features like that keep people busy for years. Like, one of the main reasons why people do old raids nowadays is transmogs. It gives relevance to content which is otherwise "dead". This is the same thing; if you put in some new cosmetic rewards into old raids, people will run them again, and again, and again. That's "engagement" for low cost; which is the very opposite of surprising. Surprising is the fact they're doing it only now.

Garrisons as a feauture and how it was executed can still be fresh in peoples mind. The key word here is: limited.

It's pretty ironic that the house where we'll keep our hearth has to get an alternate hearthstone while the real one is set to some random pub somewhere. But I get it, it's probably clumsy to switch at this point. Muscle memory and all that.

I hope the house gets a metric crap ton of cool features for each type of player, though.

    - Mailbox
    - Lil' garden for growing things
    - Extra storage, such as a bookcase for lore items
    - Trophy stands, duh
    - A portal to the capital city of choice
    - Options for extra portals you can earn to locations that you love, like some random forest or whatever
    - A profession crafting station
    - One or more NPC companions that can hang out and offer a few quests or dialogue sometimes
    - A big fireplace for cooking and hearthing
    - Choice of music you can earn music sheets for
    - Option to display a few mounts or pets outside

On reddit, someone noted that the symbol at the end of the roadmap resembles a symbol seen in WoD:

It is, though, somewhat different. It rotates in the opposite direction, and this one doesn't have that loop at the core like the roadmap symbol does.

    Still, interesting.

A home, man. It's a feature that doesn't “serve” a purpose (because apparently some players can't see that everything doesn't have to be linked to the player's power in some way) apart from being an additional element of customization.

Customization is the most important part of any video game, and even more so in R(ole)P(laying)G(ame). But some people tend to forget these last letters.

And then there are the “perks” of owning a house, like an extra free TP at the location of your choice and little things like that.

I think it's WoD Remix. All in on that one.

    Unless... maybe...

well, people were bumped out about covenants, but blizzard did with renown pretty good. People were bumped out with faction restrictions in BfA, but we have since got more and more cross faction stuff. Just because something 10 years ago sucked is not a reason to think something else that is similar will suck too. Or else no iteration will be ever good.

Exactly, the point is that not everyone cares for housing.
Tine will tell how usefull or fun this is, but I consider it a niche group whos into decorations for a house. It seems like a massive project for such a group.

Maybe they thought WoD Remix is not big enough and we will have Legion right after, hence symbol from WoD going into fel green bar. They are 2 most connected expacs before Saga after all.

I've been leaning toward WoD remix too, but that's also because I really want that. I don't like the idea of skipping it for Legion. WoD had its problems but I think a condense, Remix experience would be quite nice, and there's a good amount of stuff that can be put out item wise like MoP.

Well, if you're not interested, no one's forcing you to decorate your home. I mean, I never raid and I don't complain about seeing them in every extension. It's like tmog, if you don't like it nobody's forcing you to do it lol.
    I don't get your point.
