To bad that Stormwind kings had a bad track record in Warcraft Lore. Llane got assassinated; Varian got kidnapped, split into two, of which one was a puppet, had temper issues due to that and died valiantly; and Anduin who had Trauma from a absent father and a dead mother, got burried under an ancient bell, got tortured and dominated in hell, and we have to see how he ends up. Anduin has to return home and provide for an heir to the throne or change Stormwind from a monarchy to another form of government if he can't be a king.

Thinking about the Stormwind succession crisis and looking at Gilneas and Lordaeron, Stromgardes recent troubles from the audio drama, and the Kirin Tor story this week, seems all to be interesting things to brew for a EK revamp.
I don't think it will happen in Midnight, as that would dilute from the saga too much, but the next saga could very well start there.
Some PTR developments:
The "World" row for the Great Vault now requires 12 activities to fill, instead of 8.
Of course... the "Delves only" solo-players are freaking out on the WoW Reddit. It's interesting because the row is not for Delves only, but Delves are the only way to get the highest reward possible if you only do solo-player content.
The comments are wild.

Blizzard does have a niche community on their hands of people who log in and just do 8 Delves, log off, swap toons, rinse & repeat. They should anticipate this kind of backlash.
I don't think these are the "delves only" players, but the players that force themself to do delves for their M+ or Raids to get extra chances. As a person that is a "only Delves" player for TWW, i have no issue with this change, as i don't need all three slots filled anyway.

As a delve only player these days I can confirm we exist. I think 12 isnt THAT much but if they are worried about us not playing the game enough I would rather do 10.
My issue with this is delves are not particularly fun after a few weeks of doing them but I want to do them on alts as they are an easy way to gear (cba with m+).
If this change goes live it would require a lot more time spent in delves on alts in which case I'd probably rather not do them at all.

After taking a look at the roadmap, I take back what I said about the story completing in 11.1.5. The raid will actually release before the expansion reveal, for some reason I thought it came out before.
So I assume we do in fact fight Xal (as the zombie ghost) in the Rootlands and it is revealed there what happens to lead up to Midnight. Xal has been confirmed to appear through the saga but she is not ACTUALLY the elf, and the elf is the poster villain and main MSQ villain, so she's likely to be the final fight. Or they could twist it and it's her old god form or a ghost of it.

There's also the options that she just leaves partway through the fight or we get incapacitated/unable to continue the fight somehow. They could even do something similar to the Arthas fight in Halls of Reflection, were we aren't even trying to beat her but just trying to get away and a straight-up fight would be unwinnable.

Looking at the roadmap, and knowing what we know from the PTR, i thing 11.1.5 will 100% be the culmination of the black blood story line. Nightfall will likely be Hallowfall falling to the void completely giving us perhaps similar content to what we saw with the void assaults in BfA, and the revised Horrific visions will be there to tally up the old god story for good, and also be a link towards Midnight. Let's remember the two bosses of the horrific visions are Thrall and Alleria, and both are part of the story right now.
As for 11.2. i don't buy the rootlands things yet. Maybe as as part of a new zone, but not as the new zone in total. 11.2. has to clean up whatever is happening in 11.1.5. and make us ready for Midnight. Coreway or Worldcore are possible, but i think the focus will be on Hallowfall and the sea area there.
I'm still thinking that 11.2 Rootlands will include not just the harronir lands, but also massive Black Blood corruption (the new Delve coming next patch is just a preview) and the Worldcore structures. So roots, titan stuff, and Black Blood will be the main visuals. Worldcore raid, with Xal as a boss, ends in her defeat (not necessarily death) and destruction of the Worldcore, leaving the Worldsoul 'up for grabs' and prompting the Void's major incursion to claim it in Midnight.

I am betting on Alleria getting possessed by Xal by the end of Nightfall. Then running off to do her Midnight shenangians.
