I don't mind neighborhoods, so long as they do plan to eventually add more in other locations.

But what i do care about, is the actual house.
If the outside of the house is stuck as a hut/village home, then there is gonna be a problem.

Though, Component Theme for the exterior was a category in the datamined strings, so i'm staying optimistic.

I'm pretty sure the houses will be entirely customizable, it's the neighborhoods that will be aesthetically static.

As was mentioned before, the fact that these zones are merging old zones is a good point to a revamp sooner than later. Hopefully at launch Midnight, though early access would be cool.

Yeah, I imagine they'll add exterior edits to the feature. Afterall, I'm sure they realize players want to design how their Elven house looks, etc (Cause yes, I do believe we'll see these as customizations in the coming years).

A thing that I've seen some people confused about is what the houses will look like, and to be clear they haven't really confirmed much at all about that. I think the Durotar concept art threw some people off because it depicts nothing but orc homes, but that was a zone concept, not a house concept. They copy-pasted a handful of hut drawings just to get a feel for where the houses can go.

We really don't know if there will be limitations at all for what style of house can go where, but I'm guessing there won't be. A big reason for me thinking this is that the orc-style furniture is labelled "rugged" and the human-style furniture is labelled "folk". They're specifically avoiding racial labels and also implying there will be more styles than just those two.

Lmaooo imagine: Subdivisions going through seasonal changes, namely to fit with the Holidays.

For Noblegarden, the places turn to spring, with blooming trees and whatnot.

For Midsummer Fire Festival, the places get a summer look to them.

For Hallow's End, the places turn to fall.

And for Winter Veil, the places get all snowy and wintery!

But those are decor categories, which make sense to broadly categorize rather than create several dozen labels for individual furniture assets.

Orc decor might be used in the concept art, but most tribal assets and similar would fall under it.

Are there lingering files bits to suggest the goblin connection? Beyond there just being a bunch of easily used goblin assets from Undermine, I mean.

Because actually my first assumption would be that in this context opulent might refer to Elven stuff. Opulence is costly and luxurious, but it is usually the classy and traditional sort of costly and luxurious. Opulent furniture is usually antique/vintage or classic, filigree and gold leaf, marble, elaborate area rugs, etc.. All of which is super Quel'thalas.

If they're trying to stick to neutral terms like "folk" being human, "rugged" being orc and "general" for unaligned, then I imagine the other styles will be similar, and "opulent" would be a good fit for Blood Elf lamps and beds and whatnot. "tribal" for trolls, maybe "mechanized"/"industrial" or something for gnomes/goblins. Because I'd expect most goblin housing stuff to be less about being expensive looking or ritzy and more about being the classic goblin shakily assembled and about to explode aesthetic so making their terminology opulent would be an odd choice.

Nope, just assumptions/speculation.

Considering they mentioned that there will be furniture from all the expansions, or multiples of them, I assume they mean reusing old assets. The new generic Folk/Tribal furniture would be new, more HD assets, but they can easily port over old stuff (and I'm sure they will) or stuff from recent expansions like Goblin furniture.

Fingers crossed we get some mop and legion goodies, also some decor class based rewards for legion remix rewards, maybe for completing order hall on a class or something

Also (assuming legion remix is real) I hope we can get some alt takes on class mounts, like giving demon hunters the ability to fly with their wings like dracthyr can, maybe an infinite dragon dk mount instead of a red dragon etc

I haven't been keeping track of every page to know if it's been brought up already, but now that we're discussing word tags for buildings, I'm reminded that we still have a bunch of Orc and Human themed mystery assets from DF that never got used (?). Walls and towers and gates that would make sense in demarcating a neighborhood, and a bunch of HD remakes of Elwynn style buildings e.g. the "Frontier" building.

The only thing that could salvage neighborhoods from mediocrity for me is if we could populate them with our alts. But it might be too much to hope that our alts can even have houses, rather than it being one house per zone per Warband.

The updated barn/two story/"cabin" are all pretty sizable aren't they? And also notably all on stone bases, which would help aleviate terrain clipping into the house itself if the building is moveable within the plot and the areas aren't completely flat. Looking at the farm, also seems like a lot of very conspicuous open plain wall and floor space.



There's also those updated, HD wall-mounted hunting trophies from a while back that people were assuming was some indication of Kalimdor/EK revamp. Did those get used for anything?

The only thing that could salvage neighborhoods from mediocrity for me is if we could populate them with our alts. But it might be too much to hope that our alts can even have houses, rather than it being one house per zone per Warband.

I believe they already said the current plan is one (well, "two") houses per warband.

The part where they talk about your houses being shared amongst your Warband made that seem likely to be the case to me, but it doesn't explicitly rule it out. Unless there's something else I missed.
