It'd be fun for them to start to utilize the multiple factions within the Ethereal culture amongst this sort of vagueness we have at the moment.
Say the Shadowguard are entirely loyal to Xal'atath, but Azir and his crew are Ethereum holdouts who believe in the cause of regaining K'aresh rather than becoming Void. Or Azir and his crew could be an arm of the Protectorate that infiltrated the ranks of the Shadowguard to gain the Dark Heart for themselves for the same thing.
I'd find it weird to break the expansion's underground theme by randomly going to space. Yes, Legion also had us go to space but it was more consistent with the whole demons, spaceships, portals and galactic Burning Crusade thing it had going on IMO.
But there's not much else that is teased beyond the Rootlands which barely had a mention in 11.1 unless I'm mistaken, and the Coreway I suppose. Whereas the K'haresh teasing is laid on as thick as can be, which usually means it's the next destination.

The internet: where to every action is opposed an unequal overreaction.
Going to say that most of them will probably just be confirmed sources for the Void tint of the Arathi armour.

Would be incredible if we got the unused tint of the Arathi Warfront armour though. It should have been added when HC Warfronts were a thing. Not all these years later.
The world revamp dream will never die!
No no, it'll definitely be:
- New crusader-looking armour set.
- New WC3 Paladin style warhammer.
- New Void Elf light and shadow tattoos.
- New class/race combo for Paladins.
Right... right?!
Do you guys remember when we were all dead certain Tinkers were coming in 11.1 or 11.1.5? What a time to be alive.![]()
I do like the idea of these Shadowguard working for a rival Void Lord like Invalidus, but I'm a bigger fan of them being related to Locus-Walker or otherwise working against the Void using their magic. I think either way Locus-Walker should be more involved in the end of TWW since Alleria is one of the main characters experiencing a "war within". She hasn't really had a crisis point yet, whereas Anduin started the expansion in the middle of his crisis and came out of it pretty early in the story. If Midnight's about reuniting the elves then she needs to enter it at a high point with confidence that she has control over the Void, which means 11.2 should be either the climax of that storyline or the breaking point that leads to it shortly after.
Still, I'd like to see the viciousness of warring factions of the Void lead to their failure. Maybe that should be saved for an expansion where we enter the Void.
We do. Alleria confirmed it already in the quest where you're defeating the initial Ethereal invasion at the first Alleria/Azif confrontation
Not many people read dialogue round here huh.
It was the Shadowguard who were leeching the power from L'ure who she absorbed so a case of mistaken identity is already ruled out

And? Xal thought they were working for her too and she was wrong too. What point is being made here.
You probably didn't see the edit. But factoring in she became a Void Elf in the Seat of Triumvirate where the Shadowguard were based, they'll be more than recognizable to her than any hostile Ethereal faction, if she didn't recognise them it's completely different and open to speculation what the intentions are.
It ties in with her intentions to invade Silvermoon also, because she lacks of a source of power with Dark Heart yoinked.

Work day is about over on the west coast, still not to late for a potential PTR tonight or we looking at tomorrow?
Nothing really exciting, though the new trading post elemental chimaeras are neat.
Also Childrens Week update means this patch will be out before 4/28.

So the lore reason horrific visions are returning is because the black blood is still an ongoing threat and we're re-visiting the N'zoth visions as a way of better preparing against the threat of the blood's similar vision-inducing capabilities.
The black blood, much like the old gods from which it came is both potent and dangerous. However, this is not the first time Azeroth has faced its mind-altering qualities.
When N'zoth sought the return of Ny'alotha, Wrathion and MOTHER discovered a way to resist his reality-warping corruption.
By peering into the past and reliving that conflict, perhaps we can glean new knowledge to aid us in our current efforts.
...
Continue reliving these visions, champion. The more we understand the past, the better we can face the threats of the present.

There's a new ilvl 619 Ashjra'kamas in the files. I wonder if it's going to come back in a meaningful way with upgrades or if it's just going to be useful for the Visions.
