wasn't there a recent string change for names to allow apostrophs and spaces? With guild name changes becoming ingame gold, player names might be comming soon to, with more RP friendly options like last names or using apostrophs to mimic iconic names (Kael'thas, Kel'Thuzard, Vol'jin)

This, housing, potential for races, Midnight might be the most RP focused expansion. Perhaps to mimic legions class focus, Midnight will focus on RP

If they plan on continuing this trend towards proper mega-servers, they'll probaly start using BattleTag as the underlying identifier for grouping/messaging - much like how D3/4 do it - which would free up many of the restrictions and basically allow people to name their characters whatever they want.

One simple reason: one hundred billion pre-orders on day 1. People salivate over that stuff. Imagine announcing this pre-purchase stuff along with an epic cinematic at Gamescom. Players old a current would throw heaps at money at Blizzard if they could get "true" High Elves with some additional upgrades to racials, cosmetics etc. Perhaps a new class, as well?

If I wanna play human female mage, alive with pink skin - I should play Alliance Stormwindian human. Or Gilnean woman, but in combat character morph herself into werewolf.
If I wanna play greenskined shaman with Durotar as my home - I go Horde.
If I wanna play character from Lordaeron - I pick Forsaken human, and surprice - Horde side.
Same with Elves. If you wanna play

You play Quel'thalas elves. At red side. Or change last point to Alliance side. Key word here - change, not add. Simple as that.

I do not demand orcs or Forsaken go Alliance bc I want it so. Or humans go Horde bc I like them better then ugly trolls (sorry trolls).

This has been there since 2007. Just cut the HE bs m8, its super cringe and there has been a mod warning. Go to the HE thread if you want to continue.

I'm sure theres people who want Dalaran to be their racial capital but its never going to happen. Sometimes the things players ask for are stupid. Alleria considers Silvermoon her home but she's out of touch. Hero of a bygone era. That's the entire point of her character.

Secondly, people need to wake up about faction capitals: They basically don't exist outside of their eras. Darnasus still exists. Byleth isn't a real faction capital. In the same way, no matter what happens in Midnight, OG Silvermoon is a Horde city.

So, this elf unification you're fanaticizing about: The High Elves come home to Silvermoon....so if the faction war is so irrelevant, why would new high elves consider themselves part of the Alliance? The end of the faction conflict that allows high elves to return to silvermoon is the same reason the concept of an Alliance High Elf would be extinct. Alliance High Elves as a concept would be completely irrelevant.

That said, it's absolutely hilarious that some people are legitimately looking at Midnight, the expansion rumoured to be Legion-sized, the return to the "fabled lands of Quel'thalas" where the "scattered elven tribes of Azeroth will be re-united", which will be unveiled on a global stage in August before millions of past and current WoW players all thirsting to throw their money at Blizzard... and thinking to themselves "best we can do is some additional hair colours for Void Elves".

It's pretty obvious that Ethereals are coming with the Midnight pre-order. We help them in the final stretches of TWW and they become playable in the followup, like what happened for the Nightborne/HM tauren/LF draenei.

"High Elves" will probably come as customisation for Velves and Belves.

Where the Haranir fit in this is the question for me as I find it pretty hard to believe that they will not become playable at some point.

It's 50/50 on Haranir getting dropped for Ethereals or they are just marketing Karesh and Midnight very early because it's more hype than Rootlands.

I don't think there was this massive upheval in production between DF & TWW... The Worldsoul Saga's main story threads (dark heart, Titan interference) were established in Dragonflight. If anything it seems the harronir were an intentional attept to give the cosmic story a nature throughline. Otherwise you have three expansions about Robot miners, hardcore magic & then deus ex machina. It needs a sort of tribal mysticism to even out the story.

How do you even qualify that when Blizzard already established the next expansion is "The Silvermoon Expansion." This thread is about retail speculation & retail speculation for 2026 - 2028 is going to be about high elves. Take it up with Blizzard.
