Yeah april has been rough regarding lore news. But from now on it should get interesting.

This week or the next one at the latest we will know what 11.1.7 is about, and from that I'm pretty sure that we would be able to tell where are we going in 11.2.

Regarding Ethereals, I think that it is very likely that they become playable even before Midnight launches. If 11.2 is K'aresh, there would be a faction of Ethereals that would help us and eventually become our allies. They could even make these Ethereals Void wielders and link them to a new Void themed class that would (maybe) come in Midnight, in the same way that Pandas were our teachers to become Monks back in MoP.

There's a good chance that they might keep 11.2 hints out of testing, though. Just like in 11.0.7- the Undermined setup all happened in Orwenya's questline, which wasn't shown on the PTR. We had to wait until the patch actually released to see it.

And it'll be somewhat of a ride from there.

May we'll see 11.1.7 stuff, experience it in June, June/July we'll see both the reveal and see PTR direction for 11.2, August we get 11.2+Midnight reveal.

Yeah, more than half of Cataclysm's storyline was all about different (local) conflicts stirring up again. The Gilneans and Goblins were also threatened by Deathwing's effect on the environment.

    Reminder:

Blizzard has unveiled every patch in TWW (except 11.1) exactly 6 weeks and 6 days prior to their launch.

Also, with the notable exception of 11.0.7, every patch in TWW so far has lasted 8 weeks.

With this in mind, 11.1.7 will be announced this Wednesday (April 30th) and releases June 17th.

11.2 meanwhile, is harder to predict. 11.1 was relatively short (8 weeks) for a major patch. This might always have been the plan, or perhaps it was cut short to make up for 11.0.7's extended lifespan (10 weeks).

    Either way, I'd say it's a safe bet 11.1.7 lasts 8 weeks.

That means there is one big variable left for 11.2's dates left to figure out.

How many weeks before release are major patches announced in TWW?

We only have one example so far, 11.1, which had a whopping 14 weeks and 6 days.

But that's when you count from Warcraft Direct on November 13th. The Undermine WoWcast was aired on December 19th, which is 9 weeks and 5 days prior to the patch release.

However, every other TWW patch was announced the Wednesday following the release of the prior patch.

That would have placed 11.1's announcement and Deep Dive on December 25th.

But to further complicate things, in Dragonflight patches were typically announced 7 weeks and 5 days prior to their release dates, but some (including 10.2) got an extra week.

So it's actually plausible that both Christmas Day would have been 11.1's announcement date if it weren't for the Holidays.

Well, 6 weeks and 6 days from December 24th takes us to Tuesday the 11th of February. Which is when 11.1 would have launched if the Holidays had not gotten in the way.

Remember, 11.0.7 oddly lasted 10 weeks instead of TWW's established patch duration of 8 weeks? That's why. It's probably also why they felt the need for another Plunderstorm.

So I'm going to go with two options for 11.2.

First, the regular 6 weeks and 6 days cadence. But also a slightly extended one of 7 weeks and 6 days just to be safe.

But how long will 11.2 be?

Not that this matters too much, when we know the approximate duration of 11.1.7 and that 11.2 is likely announced the week after its launch. But let's have some fun anyway.

Again we only have a single major patch to go by in TWW. It lasted 8 weeks but was possibly cut short to make up for its slightly delayed launch. In Dragonflight major patches lasted 10. I'm gonna play it safe and say it's either 8, 9 or 10.

This places 11.2's release date on August 12th, 19th, or 26th.

Well, that's enough for us to start calculating.

If 11.2 comes out August 12th, then it'll be announced on either June 18th (assuming a 7 weeks, 6 days interim) or June 25th (assuming 6 weeks, 6 days).

But since we know they like to announce it the week after another release, June 25th in this case seems more likely.

If 11.2 comes out August 19th, then it'll be announced on either June 25th or July 2nd. This would be a bit weird, however, since it means they'd have to break either one or two of their previously established conventions.

So I will guess June 25th here as well, meaning they keep their routine of announcing it the week after the prior patch is released but also that they give themselves 7 weeks and 6 days before launch (a week longer than usual).

If 11.2 comes out August 26th, then it'll be announced on either July 2nd or July 9th. I just don't see either of these options as likely with the aforementioned info in mind. So I'm gonna rule this one out.

I'm going to bet this is what we end up getting:

    • 11.1.7 is announced on Wednesday.
    • 11.1.7 is released June 17th.
    • 11.2 is announced June 25th.
    • 11.2 is released August 12th.
    • Midnight is announced August 19th.
    • 11.2.5, unless it is announced at Gamescom alongside Midnight, is announced separately the day after on August 20th.

The new children's week quest chain has reinflated my Tinker hopium balloon. It's definitely 100% going to happen...eventually.

    Intrigued… go on :3

I’ve seen the datamined battle pet which I find quite curious for children’s week, but the quests lean further into the intrigue? I guess without spoiling, all Undermine related or are we exploring more of the tech of WoW?

Oh oh oh, it’s live, have to check it out then!

We met that particular ascended before, including before the ascension.

I more agree with the guy a few posts up that said it'll likely be this Wednesday. Blizz has stuck to patterns that work for them for the most part (discounting xmas break).

Edit: Speaking of - they posted while I was typing this post out lol.

What I am looking forward to tomorrow, though, is a new Trading Post reveal.

Yes, and at the end of the Voss questline it was shown that Xal can possess any of them at any time, and the other ascended was locked in a cage.

In 11.1.5 she LITERALLY says "I got better lol" and the other friendly ascended from the other quests is doing fine.

If there was any plot dealing with Xal being able to control the Nerubians, it was either pushed to 11.2 or canceled.

It still requires effort on her part. She probably just doesn't care enough to do it again, nor would it serve much purpose.

    Final predictions for this week!

    Definitely happening:

    • Blizzard publishes the May Trading Post blog post tonight.
    • Tomorrow, 11.1.7 is announced, along with a PTR later in the day.

    Low chance of happening:

    • When MrGM went to California last week, it was for a secret Blizzard meeting and collaboration on the announcement of 11.1.7 and perhaps even 11.2. If it's just for 11.1.7 then the patch probably contains something major like a new class, spec, or allied race.

    What 11.1.7 will contain:

    • People will be surprised, as the patch is actually doing the obvious by steering the story towards "Rootlands", the Haranir, and Elun'ahir. Not K'aresh.
    • It'll contain world events related to this theme. I'm thinking primal life forces going on a rampage in Khaz Algar, or something to do with the Black Blood perhaps.
    • The patch will begin to set the stage for an Ethereal raid in 11.2, which might give us a glimpse of the worldsoul, K'aresh, the Beledar, or the Undersea before all is said and done.
    • (Obvious) We'll see the Turbulent Timeways return near the end of the patch, this summer.
    • Pandaren heritage armour set to arrive in time for MoP: Classic.
    • The big "maybe" is whether Blizzard will surprise us with a major announcement of a new allied race, class or spec.

Regarding the amount of new content, I'd keep my expectations low. Also in terms of relevance to the story. I hope we'll see a hint of what 11.2 is all about, that's it. But happy to get more, of course.
