Undermine is probably the only story content I've properly enjoyed since... BfA levelling. Zone had great amount of details too, enjoyed it overall.

I guess at this point anything not a high spectacle world revamp with a colossal meta-story threat is considered "generic."
I can understand the argument that goblins as a race have deviated towards being softer and less selfish aligned in the actual story resolution proper, but calling the Undermined patch itself generic is astonishing.

Generic actually means something unspecific. Like if goblins behaved the same as standard fantsay cave fodder and were indistinguishable from goblins of other fantasy settings. That would be generic. WoW's goblins are actually the opposite of that. They have a very strong and delibrate theme.
Also Undermine is much more diverse than just mobsters. You're just being disingenuine with that take.

This is so unbelievably on point that it's painful.
Warcraft doesn't even do Lovecraftian horror in earnest, it's just bland tentacles all the way down. Anything truly alien and unfathomably brain melting in its existence beyond mortal ability to interact, let alone combat, is immediately undone by the tone of the setting.
You're lucky if you get even a little non-Euclidean geometry as a treat.
People are still looking at whispers as if they're not non-committal mystery box distractions. Let alone ones from a decade and a half ago.
This is fine. Nobody is saying someone has to like a theme.
But some descriptions, not yours, are categorically false.

I am warming up to the idea of a patch content zone in the region under the Undersea, it would be the perfect setting, if any, for a N'yalotha the Sleeping City zone (as opposed to the raid, the Waking City). It could be that the Waking City was only a psychic vision, the Sleeping City is the real deal, and it's still down there. The creatures that live in the Undersea already imply it.
The Kobyss are close parallels to the Lovecraft's Deep Ones and they are said to inhabit cyclopean cities under the sea.
It's a lot more likely than K'aresh, which only just got teased, and they haven't built up the Ethereal story yet. On the other hand, they first need to wrap up Beledar's story, and N'yalotha as new zone underneath it could tie in really nicely. Even without N'zoth.
You just lost The Game
I personally want an Undermine-like patch for Pandaren lol Not sure how it would fit, or when even, but that race + Monk has been severely neglected since MoP. It’s almost as if they don’t exist.
Probably won’t happen but one can dream.

ive always thought it'd be neat to have seen demon hunters and dks befriending pandaren, the pandaren in their isolation wouldn't have the same stigmas/personal grudge against demon/undead that the other factions would have and the general kinda zen beliefs of the Pandaren would be helpful for demon hunters in keeping themselves balanced and centered so they dont lose themself to the demon within
imagine if master cheng in the monk temple (the one who wanted to be a demon hunter as a reference to wyatt chang) ended up helping train demon hunters in a roundabout way, we could also end up taking a tour around pandaria seeing how different groups of illdiari or former death knights are integrating into their communities and stuff
Edit:
I completely forgot to mention that there are etherals collecting crystals in horrific visions, I had forgotten that was a thing in 8.3 and just stumbled onto them while doing my 5 mask this week
No real insight into what they're doing but it's interesting that both nzoth stuff and ethereal stuff got brought back, maybe we will get something in the rootlands dealing with nzoth's return and something in k'aresh dealing with the dark heart in 8.2

The 11.2 reveal will be glorious!
They tease it at the end. But all the story stuff since then has been Black Blood in some fashion. Orweyna continuing her search for it. Us going to the Horrific Visions to find a way to stop it.
K'aresh has only been mentioned to the players a single time so far a year ago. And it has not been mentioned as a place to potentially go to at all yet, including in the 11.1.7 patch. So 11.2 being K'aresh is still narratively completely out of left field compared to the Rootlands.
The world revamp dream will never die!
There's always doubt. They might simply be teasing K'aresh for Midnight in order to hype people for some ethereal content coming soon. But I'd agree with you that K'aresh (or at least its world core) will probably be 11.2 content because of all the datas left about an ethereal raid. Those datas can still be old / removed content such as the Warlord heroic talents for Warrior (aka gladiator stance) or the naming of those might also simply relate to the Princess boss from the Palace.

Yeah if it's not the purple swirl shown to you at the end of 11.1, they only showed that because they have zero confidence in what is actually 11.2. Could possibly have something to do with how there was no "new zone" for a little on the roadmap.
