Evil only wins when it spreads. It can cause destruction, it can cause death—but those are consequences of its nature, not its victory. Not its goal. The danger of evil, the purpose of evil, is that it causes those who would oppose it to become evil also.
I mean fundamentally this entire Megadungeon cinematic basically erases the Revamp angle.
Obviously Blizzard can still do the dumb thing of starting a soft Revamp to appease their fans in the next expansion.
But, again there is very little chance that the next expansion isn't about the Harbinger/Azshara storyline and probably mixed in with a ton more because lmao we need marketing hype.
I am honestly more surprised all the content creators are now back on the "10.3 exists" frame of mind since at the start of the expansion everyone was keenly in the "10.2 is the end" ballpark.

Why? The last revamp's endgame was fighting a giant dragon in elemental planes.
You can still go from fighting Gnolls and Scarlets to Iridikron/Xal/Azshara in one expansion. I think its VERY notable that Magatha hasn't appeared yet, despite being in the files, and she would be a perfect "revamp villain" on team Void.

Kind of irrelevant either way. She obviously doesn't literally turn back into an elf. At best it was just an illusion.
But on the subject of Azshara. Her last quote to the player is kind of interesting.
On one hand I could see that being interpreted as as she's not looking to be a servant anymore. On the other hand, I could also seeing that meaning she's sees N'zoth as the intermediate and is going to seek out a Void Lord directlyQueen Azshara says: Now go and do what you will. I tire of intermediaries and heralds. The true throne of power beckons, and I intend to claim it.

That could just as easily be Azshara's hairstyle. Or a hood (note how it is basically a straight line on the left, rather than the contour of a face). Or some other long-haired elf. Meanwhile, the ear does not match Xal'atath at all and is more Night Elf like, although a bit on the short side.
There is zero evidence of this being Xal'atath rather than any other void affiliated female elf and at least some indication that it is not.

No, they are literally not. Her ears are different, and the silhouette either has different hair or is wearing a hood.
In fact, Azshara's ears match the silhouette better than Xal'atath's.
Don't let your wants blind you to what's actually there.
The evidence is in the picture. It's just a few bits up. You can even distinguish the hairline. If you still deny that it is Xal, you can have my report for trolling and their is no point of you replying to this post.
I have no wants. I couldnt care who it is. You've been trolling for a while now and it is insane you are not yet permanently banned.

So, how about shifting this conversation to something more immediate, versus 10.3/11.0 stuff? What is going to happen in 10.2?! (Obviously, Amirdrassil, but what else)
Most likely another Night Elf meltdown. But, in all seriousness I can't stand the 10.0 -> 10.2 Tree storyline and the whole continous Night Elf story that seems to always bungle its way back to being more Night Elf Torture Porn.
Doesn't help that the Tree itself being in Emerald Dream and the whole whisper connections means that if you are a Night Elf fan you will soon recognize the nihilism that more knowledgable fans of the lore have to deal with on a daily basis while Steve spins in his chair being all cute about a storyline where there is nothing that can change the course of the story beyond making the story even worse.

If nothing else this should be a way to put the tree and all this behind us at last. May not be the conclusion we want but we can at least finally move on from it, much like leaving Sylvanas in the Maw.
I'll welcome it.
I mean if we can get the World Soul out of this universe within 3 expansions. I am totally fine letting Steve be a weirdo for the time being and essentially telling a "Your choices don't matter, lol except until we need to during the final confrontation to do N'zoth/Zovaal 3.0 because video game".
My take will always stay that we need the World Soul out of this universe. It is a completely uncomfortable story element due to the company its associated with and as a element in the story the writers continuously utilize it to essentially write about nothing.

Yeah, I don’t think Blizzard would go that route, because they already tried that with N’Zoth, and again it ended up being just a patch.
Also given how Dragonflight is going compared to Shadowlands, I’m willing to bet we’re not leaving Azeroth again for awhile.

BFA was only tied to SL via Sylvanas having a mystery box.
And even if you are correct, that’s what? 2 instances out of 7?

You could make the case that the entire story of warcraft, whether directly or indirectly, from WC1 has ultimately been about the world soul. Azeroth, blizzards baby, one might even say, the world of warcraft, is the world soul. Once she's born and the things that immediately follow (universe is saved or whatnot), the main story of warcraft is essentially over.
I look forward to it. I'd like them to conclude the main story of this franchise with a bang rather that pad it with endless filler. Finish that then let blizzard make mini expacs about whatever adventures in the universe they want, no more concerns for the bigger story.

Agreed with 10.2 SEEMINGLY looking like Firelands 2.0 so far, which is a huge loss. The burned forest aesthetic is boring and we’ve seen it plenty already in WoW.
Vyranoth attacking the tree/dream instead dvd giving us a winter wonderland vibe in part of the Dream but with a destructive flair to it would have been much better.
Alas, at least it fits in with Fyrakk’s established character of wanting to destroy all and cause chaos wherever he goes.
Those of us who have been longing for more Emerald Dream content, I haven’t got my hopes up that we’ll get what we want with 10.2. At this point I think the only way we’ll get a truly fleshed out Dream, would be to have it as an expansion setting. Sadly, we know that isn’t likely.

Where are people thinking the Firelands thing is coming from? We already have the zone Warglaive that first leaked the dream, and it was covered in plants and greenery. Way more likely that it will be a lush Dream zone, just with fire themed enemies attacking.
