Imo there is no need to understand it. It is clearly important to a lot of people and it harms no one.

I mean, I think it would affect some in the way that the idea of Earthen did i.e "We could've gotten something else instead of this recolor/model" not that I care a whole lot either way, I'm happy to just get new customizations or a new race at all to customize. But I could see people being a bit upset if they get a race that in all ways resembles Blood Elf and Void Elf but with newer, cooler hairstyles and customizations that could've gone to the other two models rn. That's if they were to reuse the same base skeleton

I wouldn't be surprised to see Paladins added to all races since were fighting the void and the Light is heavily involved like we know. Or what Marl said above.

Also I love how we all just linked all the shorts aha, personally any leak that doesn't have High Elves or Amani I don't even consider but that's just me.

It's also really not that hard to understand.

People want a proper channel to rp a fantasy.
That includes the narrative, the racials and customization.

Making a pale Void Elf does not scratch that itch, you are still restricted to all the emo customization, everyone in-game still refers to you as a Void Elf and your racials have incredibly visible spell effects that stand out.

Ret isn't tuned that well this season, so the Paladin Discord threw a hissy fit and closed all Ret related channels.

Okay, my take on/wishlist for expansion, in no particular order:
1) Talent system revamp. New iteration of talent system reimagining MoP-style talents the same way DF talents reimagined classic ones.
2) Coming in hand with it, ability/spell effect pruning. No more stuff like Renewing Mist having 20 effects at once.
3) "Spell transmog". Ability to replace visuals/names on various abilities without changing their effect.
4) Minor revamp of gear track/crest system. E.g. get rid of Valorstones and tracks below Veteran.
5) New void spec for DH.
6) Artificer/Tinker class.
7) Ethereal neutral allied race.
8) Update to Delves with higher levels getting more/tighter mechanics instead of just more HP.
9) Difficulty levels for world content. Again, more mechanics on mobs instead of gazillion HP.
10) Revamped Northern EK used as an expansion place. Silvermoon new hub city. New zone slicing and naming not matching old ones.
11) No particular feelings about the plot, but I think it will heavily feature everyone uniting in Azeroth darkest hour.
12) Actual boss mod and usable raid frames as part of default UI.
13) Oh, and of course more of Xal's magnificent toes.

I know you cannot avoid the woke but I do think there is a way to do the Amani as an analogy to an indigenous population. Give them access to their ancestral lands without displacing the elves. Though the issue with WoW's (and many fantasy authors') obsession with extremely long lived races is that many people in Quel'thalas are like apparently 2nd and 3rd generation.

I mean seriously ret sims and perform lower in pure dps than the support spec that is effectively abandoned. I mainly tank and I know unless they change things I am not switching to ret at all this tier.

Just an estimated guess probably. We usually get alpha's like a month or two after announcements, more so quicker the last few.

I was under the impression it was for single target only that it was bad, whereas AoE is relatively okay.

To use an old talking point in a different light- thanks Ion- High Elves already exist on Horde.

Alliance Amani is a bridge too far IMO. Earthen are not Dwarves despite their aesthetic and are not tethered to the wars in the same way Trolls are.

Actually, I could see this being a "you think you do, but you don't" -> "my favourite kind of ice cream is vanilla" type situation.

Ion might make a lighthearted joke referencing his old position on the matter, but then explaining that the team has been looking into it again and "what the hell, it feels right to do right now".
