I feel like 10.2 will be the area off the coast of Ohn'ahran Plains, for sure. However, I doubt the "Emerald Dream" will be the zone. I don't really see the ED as a singular zone. The new zone could be Amirdrassil (similar to Teldrassil being an entire zone), or something like Mount Hyjal where Nordrassil (the tree) was part of the zone (in this case Amirdrassil) and the zone would be everything around it.

TBF, I don't think people are expecting to get the entirety of the Emerald Dream as a single zone or patch. At most we'll get something like Argus, with three zones playable from that entire world. But it could just be the one zone as well.

Very true! Either way, I really hope 10.2 pushes the narrative forward more than 10.1 felt. It was great to see the black dragon/blue dragon story stuff unfold, but man, it felt like a side story more than the A-plot narrative.

We literally changed story directors twice since those whispers. They're not indicative of anything anymore. The events of Dragonflight were not planned when they were writing those whispers in BFA.

They are still making references to whispers from Legion. They will 100% follow up on the eyes of green thing, it just hasn't been done because so little of the content since Emerald Nightmare has had to do with Life/green eyed characters.

The Nathrezim book in Revendreth outright states they have an agent and/or conspirator in the Lifelands.

Green eyes could also be symbolic for envy or jealousy as opposed to physical green eyes.

They are going to show that the zone is like three chunks of the Lifelands/Dream that are entirely whimsical and fantastical and nobody is going to whine because it looks pretty and the Dream is "old lore" that people like. The "wahhhh no cosmic ever" is a silly point when a good chunk of beloved Warcraft are ghosts, fairies, demons and aliens.

Maybe it was just that the Shadowlands were shit/badly constructed and written? And not "every single magical/fantastical thing is suddenly bad and we will never revisit it"?

I stand by my statement that SL would have been 1000 times better if it was set up better before going there. I love the cosmic lore stuff. Heck, I would be fine going to any Zereth, cosmic domain/realm, planet, etc. I just want a nice build up for doing it that doesn't feel too fast or random.

It definitely got kneecapped by the "surprise" element. It would've been much cooler if during BFA, Sylvanas started teaming up with Spirit Healers and/or Kyrian, Mawsworn, Maldraxxus forces etc as the buildup would be there and we would have some expectations for what the Shadowlands were like. Instead it's just Drust who are side-side villains.

Alas, they couldn't balance that and N'zoth/Nyalotha and didn't have the models for SL creatures ready in time.

Or just Shadowlands would be...well right now. I.E. delay SL by 2.5 years. Of course this would also require no Covid and Scandal shennigans.

Nothing wrong with visiting the Emerald Dream/Lifelands (if it’s even the same place) as a setting.

My issue is with the proposed idea that Amirdrassil could work as an anchor to the Shadowlands, establishing a permanent connection there. If we can cross over to the realm of Death willy nilly, and vice versa then it effectively destroys the consequences of dying in the Warcraft universe.

Cosmic settings are fine to an extent, as long as they make sense and don’t cheapen the story. Though, I agree with the sentiment echoed by a few here that Shadowlands the expansion would have been a lot better if it took place in Northrend. In my eyes, going to the actual Shadowlands itself would have worked better as either a raid or patch zone like Argus. With it highlighted that we don’t belong there, that us being there is an anomaly, and that the denizens of the Shadowlands can’t cross over like we have. Have it so narratively, we’re there on borrowed time and it’s a race against time to do what we need to do, escape and get back to the realm of the living lest we be trapped there.

However, I’m digressing from the purpose of the thread.

I would actually be over the moon with three fantastical and whimsical Dream zones, as opposed to the likelihood that we’re getting Cata era Hyjal 2.0.

If they go void expansion, they will bring Anduin back. I cringe if they made Xal'atath the new Dark Lady and Anduin her moral compass.

I think that's a possibility, based off that old comic where he and Velen travels into the Twisting Nether. It'd only work if Anduin has aged quickly inside the Shadowlands though.

    (Promotion) New Promotion

What it can be? We just had 6 month mount and on top of that they added another 25$ mount. Hopefully it's some free weekend or something, otherwise it would be going overboard.

EDIT: Ok, one must be for sure next Prime drop, it's end of the month. Maybe 2nd one is twitch drop as well, Hardcore is probably launching soon.

    Probably right.

Ironically, we're probably in the dullest period in a long time right now in terms of exciting news. Once 10.1.7 is released, 10.2 news will drop. Not sure about everyone else, but I will be excited from start to finish with everything surrounding the Emerald Dream. Then BlizzCon takes over from there, and onwards the hype train goes.

So yeah, whatever the promotion is, I'll take it.

Then you're admitting you're just looking for coincidences because anything happening now was not planned when those whispers were written. You're just looking for vague symmetry to something written by someone who doesn't even work for Blizzard anymore.

Yeah i mean there is literally a landmass on the map thats not currently present. It could still be part of the dream though. Like the part surrounding the tree is somehow phased into our world or something like that. More like a emerald dream inspired island than us visiting the dream. I doubt we will see the full grown tree as part of the new zone, even though i would love that.

If he was chosen to replace Ysera, it's because he has a strong link with the cycle of life. He also has green eyes, it matches the whisper perfectly.
The latest cinematic told us that alextrasza betrayed the incarnates. So maybe it happened already thausand of years ago and is nothing that will happen.
We where also told alex will in some way betray tyr. And yes. I still don't trust that dragon mommy. Her whole character feels off in dragonflight.
